Thanks for your feedback!

ps- anyone know of an inexpensive am/fm tuner that could be incorporated into something like this? or best way to accomplish that. would be especially good if it could be combined with vintage look analog dial - any ideas?

the problem with portable audio sources is that they only seem to incorporate fm tuners which would be fine for most people but here in northern canada am is what i would need.

Incorporate an analog FM/AM radio was actually my intention. I have searched for a high quality FM/AM receiver but with no luck. I guess they're not "hot stuff" now a days. Then I bought a cheap pocket radio ($8) to cannibalize. Sadly the sound quality was to poor, when hooking it up with the amp and speakers the buzz was just to annoying. I will perhaps try a more expensive radio to get parts from but at the moment I stream my favorite radio stations through my iphone.

Adding some pics of the sad looking pocket radio 🙂

Looks interesting!

That would actually be worth I try. My worries is that the radio part is integrated with all the other stuff on one big circuit board. I have limited space to work with.
I guess there is only one way to find out; buy one and look whats inside and if its unusable for my purpose I can always hook it up to my speakers and listen to "180W + 180W" pure power 🙂

thanks for the link

I have now done some amateure measurements with a Panasonic WM-61 capsule and a diy mic preamp. I don't know if this kind of measurement have any relevance at all but I will post them anyway. Notice the "professional" anechoic chamber 🙂

I should mention that I use my ears (not literally) when adjusting the placement and amount of stuffing until I'm satisfied with the sound and not my unreliable measurement tools. Anyway there is some fun in microphone measurements as well so I can't really leave it with what my ear hears.

One can notice the peaks around 110 and 170 hz. Perhaps some more sheep wool wood flatten them out a bit but since I'm pleased with the sound I will ignore them.
