I search for IC for connecting:
source coaxial SPDIF -> SPDIF input -> USB or 1394 -> laptop (Windows XP)
or
source HDMI -> HDMI input -> USB or 1394 -> laptop (Windows XP)
It's desirable:
popular (not rare) IC with simple design
support 24bit and 88.2kHz (better 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96)
autofrequency or hardware switching (or accessible driver/application)
ASIO
P.S. I tried to find (from 680 threads - 1400 posts), but it's basically SPDIF output.

CMedia should have a chip/ic for spdif-usb in the sampling rates you require.
ASIO may have to be done via ASIO4All drivers.
