Hi,
Some of the most popular project threads are very long. Members who adopt these projects often have to re-visit but this gets heavier and heavier as the thread grows. Moreover when the thread gets to a certain size, it gets so heavy that many ask the same question again making the thread even heavier.
Is there any way of solving this problem?
The ability to hide unimportant posts or even better to rank and hide posts of, say, three layers of interest, would help solve this problem.
Does this exist? If not, would it be possible?

There are 2 permanent measures that can be taken... the 1st one is to split the thread into subthreads based on topic. This is something mods do all the time, but given the work involved it usually only happens when very distinct topics arise. A big help would be members going thru and cataloging post numbers that could be split out.
Similarily a thread could be pruned into a shorter thread (a duplicate) with only essential posts, we'd definitly need members to take a thread on as a project). More work, is to take a thread and condense it into a WIKI article.

Yes, Peter Daniels has recently added a WIKI to his Shigaclone thread and it is very helpfull. However not everybody is a Peter Daniels and the ability of all members to hide non-essential posts would be, IMHO, a great help. May I take it from your reply that it is not possible and won't be untill the next update?
Congratulations, anyway, for this superb site.

Sorry, it wasn't a WIKI that Peter opened but a second site. It is very effective but can only be envisaged after the problem of thread size has already manifested itself. Enough said.
