Bob, sorry but I can't post to you yet as I'm toooo neeeew.

I would very much appreciate the schematic as my Intek has just arrived with an intermitent power on fault which sound exactly like the Thermister fail discussed here. Just need to find it's location and hopefully bob will be my uncle.

My Radford test kit is sat awaiting service...I've bought various bits over the last couple of years but not yet had chance to verify it. Plan one day is to sort it out and start to develop my own kit.

Intek Schematic

Hi Bob (burbeck),

I just recently decided to pursue my Intek problem which sounds identical to others having the intermittant cutout for no apparent reason. I did return it to Linn when under warranty but I think it was too intermittant for them to repair. The symptom soon reappeared. It has been boxed for years and I would now like to recomission it.

So I did some searching and luckilly ran into this forum. I've searched the Intek board but can't seem to find the delinquent thermistor. I would very much appreciate if you could email me the schematic and possibly the component designation and a brief description of the location. email addr. milancos@chem.ubc.ca

Very intersting.

In the last time I have get several "INTEK" devices for repair. All devices are DC coupled between the volume control and the input of the NE5532 for the line preamp. This causes extremly cracking while rotate the volume control, even by use of a new variable resistor therefore

Moreover, already by very low rotate of the volume control knob a big jump in the volume is to observe (very high value of voltage gain at whole). The high voltage gain is obviously optimized for low voltage output sources like Quad FM-3 (FM3). There is choiced already 5 times for the line amp.

In the attachement the schematics - unfortunately only for the MM/MC RIAA head amp and the line amp, but not for power supply and not for the power amp section.
But the suggested changes actually must be helpful

P.S. I don't note a faulty thermistor. What is the job for this mentioned NTC thermistor? Maybe the inrush current limiter?

PS-II If you create an ultimate "outdoor" power supply with low internal resistance, the sonic quality of this integrated amp is superb

hi Tief i sent the schematic to you also The NTC thermistor is an overheat sensor, which cuts off the power supply at its set point, the drawing should just about make that clear.

Thank you very much for the schematic. From where you have order this (perhaps from Linn)?

I haven't success to discover the mentioned NTC.

I have found only a heatsink mounted bimetall thermal switch - the electrical contacts in series to the AC main transformer lead (primary winding site) like this
Elmwood | Process Control | Sensors and Transducers | Thermal Switches | Bi-Metallic Thermostat

But where are the connections of the NTC thermistor? By the voltage regulators or power amp units?

Thank you - I have now discover hardly. My eyes water very much. And I don't recall the mounted place of this NTC (last Linn Intek repair service some months ago).
But when I have an Intek main board device open, this low resolution schematic is nevertheless helpful.
From where you have get this schematic?

klc-audio: I use "Circuitmaker" - a P-spice based CAD program similar LT-spice

I had order by Linn a high resolution version of this schematic. Today I have receive it, but is is exactly the same bad resolution than that one from the member burbeck.
Additional Linn had urgently requested in his reply, that this
schematic should not be posted on the forums (! ???)

My guess is that by removal of the archival documents the first edition (respectively the orig printing version) of "INTEK" schematic (and much more others) also was removed.
