I got my Lightspeed up and working tonight, and it sounds fantastic.
One thing I noticed is that it has to be turned all the way up, to mute the sound and the other way around, go minimum volume to get maximum sound.

Is it possible that I put in the 100k potmeter in upside down?
The one I ordered from the BOM did not fit normal ON the board, so I mounted it from below. (there is a orientation pin on the pot from the BOM which makes that the only way to mount is from the underside of the pcb)

Anyone also had this problem?

Yes that is correct. It has to be turned counter clockwise to rise in volume.

I tried desoldering the pot but it was impossible to desolder. I will leave it like it is.I read in the instructions that wrong orientation of the pot is a mis-wire-ing that gets this effect. I have no idea if it is harmfull.

The sound of the lightspeed is however very good though, the decays last forever, and all instruments gained a size upgrade. Its seems like there is no audible effect. 🙄

Well, I thought it would not make a difference how I mounted the pot. Besides I thought, that the design of the pcb was that the pot should go underneath.

I found it a bit strange, but then again, I could always desolder it... 🙁

Ah well, it wasn`t the first mistake I made 😀

Hi all, official announcement :cop:

Oliver has chosen a new name fore his next round of LDR attenuator boards
A few remaining boards may still be sold as "Lightspeed" boards

New name is "Optical Volume Control"

Thread title will be changed too

Good luck

Hi Rikkert, you actually helped me along with your post. I also bought the components per BOM list and was puzzled by the incongruity between the orientation pin on the pot and the corresponding hole in the pcb. I already decided to simply pinch off the offending pin and mount the pot topside on the pcb, but haven't come round to build the optical volume control yet. When it's up and running I'll share the results.

What would diy be without mistakes🙂
