Hi all,
Did some tweaking with the SB Reciever. Connected 2 paralleled TDA1543's to the I2S of the Xilinx controller to see how this baby act like a real NOS DAC with straight I2S. Well works great. Big soundstage and very very musical. Typical round mid's as we know from the TDA1543. Very clean and direct sound.
I feed the SB with batterie (9V). Furthermore i took off the 3.3V regulator coil under the Wifi print and injected a clean 3.3V straight from batterie. This is a must do! BIG step up for the SB reciever.
At last i added a Panasoninc FM directly on the 3.3V input pins of the Xilinx.
Don't know the results of this. Changed to much.
I think this is a very cheap solution to make your own straight I2S TDA1543 NOS streaming DAC. No USB, no SPDIF. Just stream over the ethernet. Welcome to the future.
Feel free to ask or comment.

I posted this over on the other thread but wanted to add some more questions:
Can I ask Hans, what audio clock(s) are used in the SBR? That was the last update you mentioned on AA.
If you don't like the B32, have you tried the Sabre ES9022 2 channel Vout DAC? Cost about $2. It might work out as a more vinyl like sound that you seemed to like from the on-board Wolfson DAC?
You also talked about these PS on AA - can you show a pic of where they are?
1.2V for the processor
3.3V for the controller and Ethernet
5.0V for the DAC
?? for the WIFI module (we did not measure, but suppose also 5 Volt)
So are you now running just 1.2V (Xilinx) & 3.3V (Ethernet) off batteries?

Hi, and wow a lot of questions. I heard the B24 and B32, the Stagedac with WM8741. The chip you mention not. It has built in I/V i read. Maybe it's good. As good as they be, the ones i heard do not produce the real soul. Don't want to name that as typical vinyl sound. The well known TDA's implemented with USB/SPDIF recievers doesn't sound as good as a straight I2S signal IMO. It's personal taste maybe, but listening to a good implemented TDA is kind of addictive. I forget the absence of microdetails. With old recordings they are not always a gift.
At this moment i dont have a picture, but the 1,2 and 3,3 are under the wifi board. You can find them easily. The 5 Volt DAC reg is near the DAC chip. I will post a follow up on this.
Yes, i am running 1.2 and 3.3 from batterie. Vregulation is not optimal yet. It is hard to find a good 1.2V and/or 3.3V (shunt) Vreg.
I now ordered a tentlab 11.289 clock with shunt reg. This is the last tweak. I don't think we can get any further on optimized transport.
Sorry about that 🙂Hi, and wow a lot of questions.
Can I suggest 2300mAh LiFePO4 batteries for the 3.3V, no need for regulator, it's voltage holds up throughout it's discharge cycle. 1.2V from eneloop batterries? - depends on the current consumption of both of these voltages - any idea of thisYes, i am running 1.2 and 3.3 from batterie. I'm interested in how this turns out.I now ordered a tentlab 11.289 clock with shunt reg. This is the last tweak. I don't think we can get any further on optimized transport.
I've ordered a SB receiver this morning but it has to go under the tree until Christmas day - this is the problem with instant gratification, it takes too long 😀 I'll be following in your footsteps with these mods so look forward to your next installment.
