Breakfast last Thursday started with a HOT Szechuan salad of chicken feet and shredded radish.

Lucky you! I miss authentic Chinese food.

What a wuss!

I never used to watch that show, then when I saw he was going to be stranded in the wilds of Alabama, I just had to watch. I hadn't realized that show was a comedy. Now I watch all the ones where he is lost in America. What a hoot.

Like Mr. Big or Oh Henry bars here. They look suspicious floating in a pool too.
A taste test is usually required to differentiate.

Oh Henry! People feel strongly about their Oh Henry bars

That and a can of Mountain Dew was my rocket fuel.

The local "Squeeze" plant had a knockoff called "Green River" never could get what the flavor was supposed to be. They dyed it a bright green, a guilty pleasure along with the piece of wedding cake with the big blue flower.

Edit - I stand corrected it was a prohibition era institution in the Midwest, never knew that.

Uggh. I just consumed a bunch of ants. They’ve infiltrated my workbench and I didn’t notice that they were all over the mouth of my Coke can. :yuck:
Incidentally, I’ve had witchetty grub. Though just a slice, and cooked, not live like in that Bear Grylls 'giant larvae' video. Tastes just like hard boiled egg :yummy:

That's OK, one channel of Chinese casual reality had some hikers holding wasps nests up and downing what fell out.

It's worth watching just to see what he is going to eat next.

That's true. In the Alabama episode he killed a wild boar that looked exactly like a domestic pig. He ate a small piece of it cooked and commented on how fast wild pig would go off in this climate, so he left the rest behind. The next morning he was eating deer droppings. The funny part about this was there was ice on the bushes.

That's probably even stranger than Japanese wasp crackers.

A favourite treat of mine is Spotted Dog – a basic damper with raisins baked in a tin buried in the smouldering coals of a camp fire. I've heard that blowflies are a tasty “bush” substitute for the raisins, but never cared to try that one for myself.
