Maybe Brent can help?
Tried everywhere for the schematics, can't find a thing. I read that NAD do not allow their current schematics/service manuals to be available on the 'net' and if they are posted anywhere, they're quickly removed. Must have a team searching for them etc etc????
Heard you can attain them direct from NAD if you are a service/repair agent.
Also heard you can buy them direct for personal use ONLY with penalties if you publish, although they're supposed to be extremely expensive.
Here's a result from a test I did today regarding the folowing feedback caps I had spare........
............................Value.......Highs......Mids......Punch......Lows
Standard (JH).......47uf/63v......Poor.......OK.........Poor........OK
Nichicon FG..........47uf/63v.....Bright.....Good.......Poor........Poor
Panasonic FM.......47uf/63v......Good......Poor.......Poor.........OK
Alternative (JH)...100uf/50v.......Poor.....Poor.......V.Good....V.good
The FG's haven't had much 'burn in' time so I expect they would loosen up on the highs and better themselves in the lows in time.
The 'alternative JH' excels the others in the lows so I presume a quality cap of that value would be much better in the highs/mid too??
Your probably right. It seems to indicate that for best bass/punch 100uF is a better value. Using a better quality 100uF cap will likely improve the treble and mids.
EDIT:
Try adding a 100nF film capacitor as 'bypass' to the JH cap. It should improve the mid/treble. Ive got a couple spare I can pop in an envelope if you want.
Ive got some - used but in perfect working order - 100uF (25v i think) Nichicon MUSE, and also 100uF/50v Blackgates. They're used so all yours for the grand sum of karma+postage if you wanna try them. I'll check the voltage rating of the MUSE later and let you know. PM me if your interested.

There is a website called analogalley.com I have used. He is really good at finding manuals and schematics. Just make a request for your unit and he'll check his sources and get back to you.
For relatively easy to understand tutorials on feedback and how opamps operate go to passdiy.com and check out the articles.
anal 'o' gallery???? 😱🙂🙂🙂
😀😀😀
...I'll get my coat now......
Funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bill, I'll try that.

Hello Bill,
Sent an email requesting the schematics/service manuals so hopefully he'll get back to me.
What to do?????
MUSE or Silmics?? that is the question?????
Silmics = highly rated, great all rounders. Not available in all my required values.
MUSE = 1/4 price of Silmics. Available in all my needed values.
Read someone compared many caps inc the above and he chose the Pana FC as his top all rounder?? Crazy?? too sterile!

Robbing b's
Well, seems my problem might not be any cap at all! or the amp for that matter!
Just read a post about fake chinese parts. Seems strange that when I changed the binding posts and rca's to some CMC's I bought from ebay (seller in china) the sound altered for the worse. I didn't think it could be them as I changed a few caps at the same time.
I've just got the stanley out and cut into the CMC's which are supposed to be 'pure copper' silver plated and there isn't a sight of copper anywhere, more like a cheap alloy and looking closer, they're not even cnc'd, they're bloody cast.
The robbing b.
I'll swap them tomorrow and see what happens. Too late to start playing.
A report to ebay me thinks...............

Got the dremel out and cut past the silver plating on the so called 'super Cu pure copper' rca's, they're nothing more than a chunk of brass. The seller says they are genuine and he can provide proof sheets to paypal?? It's easy to knock up a so called 'proof sheet' and send an original set of CMC's for evaluation if he needed. Bloody joker.
They are engraved 'Super Cu' and they're made entirely from brass and conduct rather crap. How can he say they are gen?????

There are a lot of fake CMC RCA's, binding posts, fake caps on Ebay. The are nice looking, but they are all cheap and You must understand that they are fake (+ it's from China)...
All You can do now - is lower seller's reputation and beware others from buying parts from this seller.
I think it's nothing bad with brass RCA's - almost any brand amps and CD-Players use brass gold-plated RCA's and it's normal...

Well the bang is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At last........ the bang is back!
All I did was revert back to the original binding posts and rca's from those so called 'pure silver CMC's' but really brass rca's and alloy bindings and there we go, back on track!!!!!
Great stuff, just when I was ready to give up (again).
After all the mods so far, how does it sound???? the answer is bloody great!!!!
More mods to follow me tinks!!

Already left positive feedback, should have waited. He's refusing they are fake!!
Brass is ok, but when you pay a reasonable amount of money for solid pure copper you expect what it says on the tin. The rca's weren't too bad being brass, it was the alloy bindings that were s**t
Good news!
Thanks....
The flebay seller is still refusing that the CMC's are fake. I said how can they be genuine when they are stamped 'CMC USA Super Cu' and according to CMC, the Cu's are all pure copper and nothing else. These are bloody brass!
Turd!
Shall I post his ebay user name???? Wouldn't want anyone else to be robbed!
Why dont you post some more pics of your lovely amp to take your mind off it. I would be interested in particular to see the transformer and main power supply.
Im glad you got it sorted!
