TOMIKO OPT-SE, any good?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build a budget EL34 SE amp and now looking for SE output transformers. I know about Edcor's which is very good and I also found this one on eBay which is made in Japan

Does anyone try it and how good is it?

I'd say for anything more than 5 watts SE down to 40Hz or so is pretty optimistic. That 10Hz rating is taken at what.... 1/2W?

That 18 watts SE rating is at what... 1KHz? Physics is physics.

I wouldn't expect anywhere near Edcor performance from those.

Might make some sweet little guitar amp trannies though 🙂

I haven't used GXSE yet, but my main everyday amp uses XSE and is fabulous. Same one Tubelab built his SSE around:
Simple SE

The GXSE has extended frequency response for the power rating and is only $10 more. If I was going to build George's SSE, I'd use a GXSE.
