Mr. Pass, not just with your amps but even with your words you are proving your concept that less is more. I wrote above that War and Piece to say what you greatly summed in a few words.Tonally, I would put it between. More relaxed than the F5,
more control and dynamics than F3.
😎
🙄
Both comments are greatly appreciated and very well described.
Thanks a bunch guys.

I know that I am wrong, ........
I didn't said anything new .....
anyway - having pretty friendly speakers for that duty - you can count that difference between F5 and that Aleph ( mentioned by yours truly ) is matter of taste ..... and guess where my taste is ...... ?

.....
C,c,c I am just looking into Aleph XJ boards.
maybe you need them , maybe not ; but I know that you're collector - same as our Steen ....
but I think that you need something different , if you want to tweak your Container Amps .
btw. - you owe me a beer for "Master Burner"

So another great combination for the three way system could be F5F3F5.
As I already mentioned it few times, one of the limiting factors for F3 could be the output coupling cap. If you are using it in multiamp setup, especially with high frequencies, changing large electrolytic for quality film cap in a 3-12uF range makes a noticable difference.
The J2 is direct coupled.
😎
Except for the path through the PSU I suspect... 😉
Nelson, you need to change your naming conventions cos I cant search for them easily in DIYA. In future try adding an xyz suffix or prefix please😀

For example, J2, could be... Joy too! 😛

Given the unavailability of the SiC JFets am I correct to assume that a version where the upper and lower JFETs are replaced by cascoded LU1014D - or probably a couple in parallel - would also be feasible?
Hmm, upon second thought the LU1014 is depletion mode so it might probably be difficult to bias is in the same way 😕

To search for something too short to search on diyAudio, goto Google and search for:
site:diyaudio.com j1 amplifier
or whathaveyou.

How about you direct that to the person who runs the forum.. He should really change the minimum to 1 letter for this stuff. We use 2 letter acronyms for a LOT. And sure google works, but what a pita. This forums isn't so busy the server can't handle 2 letter searches.
(sry, pita = pain in the ars)

I use the Google search within the search menu (you have to login on diyaudio.com to use this feature).
You find it placed straight under 'Advanced Search'
We are so lucky to have these proven projects to build.
The F1-5, B1-2, and now the J series. One can never have enough projects to build in retirement years. If myself and Nelson live long enough I might one day be building an X1 amp.
All we need now are some 250 volt dual signal jfets for the differentials and some complementary SiC output devices. Glow in the dark heatsinks.
Nelson,
In your experiments with these new jfets just how hot have you run them? Just curious how dynamic a 300 degree output device is.
Tad

J1
A monoblock version of the J2, or something different again?
The J1 is not finished yet. It is a monoblock.
😎

question :🙂 can we use the J2 with high capacitive Flat cable like goertz without any risk for the amp?
