Hello!

Looking at building Nelsons amp A1.2:worship:

the question or problem is I dont need 200w of power, Im thinking more 100-120w. This should save on building and running cost.
So Is it as simple as lowering resistor 56.2k?
and also remove some output fets.?

The thing is Im looking at running low sensitivity speakers and this is one design which should work.

Any advice is welcome
Cheers🙂

Thanks Gyuri

"The amplifier is stable into any load impedance or reactance including a direct short, but does
not increase its power rating with reduced impedance. Below 4 ohms, the output of the
amplifier will be proportional to the load impedance."

Looking at a amp which does not have this character.
my thinking says, with a speaker the impedance drops as the freq decreases, so with rated power increasing with reduced impedance this gives more bass

hello, i am kinda new here. i have been lurkin in the back for awhile learning all i could.
im not sure i understand the Z dropping and getting more bass question... however i think, (and maybe someone with a higher edumacation can conferm) P=IxE so just cause it has the capability, till you turn it up or music calls for it the voltage will be what it is at that freq. i could be wrong....
however i built a 1.2 i love it. i am in the final stages of tweaking the design, and making the second.
if running the amps all the time from the wall @ 500+ Watts is what you are concerned about, i may have a solution.
if not the i have some info on the alpha 2 that i can send email to you. i think it is just like the 1.2 only 100w.

also....can you spell check on the replys?
nevermind found it. dropped on my head as a small child.

hola Y'all

Info on anything, use the search button at the top right of page. (how to cook chilli on a class a amp???) all kidding aside there is a wealth of info already discussed in this forum. The search button is your friend...
