thank you for the compliments sir, voice coil winding it that way greatly reduces power compression, your speakers plays louder and it is also durable and tough, a small 2.5in voicecoil could literally survive a qsc mx3000, some of my costumers claim that they perceive an extension on the mid highs making it sound like "in your face quality" pardon me sir if I am claiming my bragging rights he he he he

P. Audio Speakers - P Audio C18-650EL 18" speaker - P.Audio 1,300 watt 18" woofer for all bass applications. P. Audio C18-650EL and other P.Audio 18" speakers here.

with the above given...here some successful projects for 650el (not anymore in production) ask thailand for challenger II direct replacement.

because of the mechanical compliance limitation of the 650el (Q(Qms)) you must safeguard it by a high pass filter at 40hz, thus, helping your 650el not to over-excursion and save you a lot of money.

remember that a burnt voice coil is cause by an amplifier continuous hard clipping (DC output), while a rip off pig-tail or cone fractures are cause by excessive mechanical movements.

dont blame your Amps...remember that this are subwoofers...low freq...the lower the freq...the lower the speaker impedance will go. Know the technicals of your gears...it will save you to last a gig without damages.

its your hard earned investment...use them proper and with care.

have fun and have a nice day.

we are using clone copies of Martin Audio's...Tops- W8's...Sub-WSX...and Danley clones...Tops-Unityhorn...Sub-Tappedhorn...but really it depends on the venue...small venue we just use our good old drum monitor for FOH...CSX57II. Our boxes are all home-made from carpentry to passive network.

have a nice day...

have nice day.

very nice sir this is not an ordinary sounds setup..may i know sir if what kind of speaker enclosure box is good to use in indoor or closed venue.. thanks

thanx Sir Amants, but the truth is...its just a simple ordinary setup. Given only 2hour to setup the system...so no time to organize the cables. Just do the Mic, drum-kits and instrument check and tuning...then start the show.

IMO...for indoor shows...it all depends on the dimension of the venue. Whats the distance from side to side?, front to back? and floor to ceiling?...this is very important for this will greatly affects the placements of the boxes and the sound quality.

remember that sound travel at approx. 343m/s at sea level, and at 20 degrees Celsius...example you have a 8meters side to side dimension...this tells us that we have a standing wave frequency and below 42hz will be difficult. ok..so now we high pass our aux feed subs to say 45hz maybe, thus, saving some power of amplifier from unusable freq. due to wall cancellation.

thats the sub...now how about our tops?...ouch!!! this is where the battle-neck is.

sub is easy you just have to worry for the kick which has a fundamental freq. of about 192hz, a bass guitar which has a fundamental freq. E => Aprox. 41.2hz
A => Aprox. 55hz. and the keyboard from Ao => 27hz G2# =>100hz...hehehe easy ha!

eto pa...how about the kick got that clicks at 2k to 5k, bass guitar slaps and keyboards percussions and sizzles?

These are the jobs of the tops box...from punch to brilliance...90hz to 10k...these are the freq. that will fill the venue...reflecting from wall to wall causing interference to each other. These interference will produce cancellation and will degrade sound quality.

its all about physics...know your venue...know you box...and you will be just fine.

boxes have thier efficiencies and disadvantages.

a sealed box is about 20 percent efficient. faithfull
a bass reflex box is about 30 percent efficient. bass defined -mechanical overdrive.
a hornload box may have a 40 to 50 efficiency. BIG and HEAVY. Truck packing problem.

In a close door venue(assuming its not acoustically treated)...the louder to get=the more reverb you get. to lessen the reverb to need to be closer to the ceiling. which a lot of us dont have that luxury.

a simple stack of your favorite box...PLUS...a pair or two of Delayed speaker on stand will do the trick.(delayed means you use a long delay processor)

a not so loud but even intelligible sound is better than a LOUD sound with no intelligibility.

yawn!!! nice day.

The sole purpose is to keep the speaker twisted wire shorter...this is to keep the wire resistance smaller...and when there is a small resistance there a small voltage drop, giving a much efficient transfer of power from amps to speaker. (assuming your ac distro has a good termination)There is a lot of benefits: Efficient transfer of power before clipping the amps, Saving money; you need not to buy expensive long wires, balance mic cables are cheaper...Lessen the EMF, helps amps damping...much organize cable housekeeping.

so...it has nothing to do with feedback...distortion maybe yes...because you have good wiring you will have additional power to deliver...less clipping or no more clipping.

feedback comes from a very close proximity of transducers...like mics and speakers...which can be eliminated and corrected via equalizers...to be accurate use Smaart.

there are others who are more capable of explaining these matter, maybe they can share their knowledge to enlighten us more.

have nice day.

feedback happens when a mic picks up the sound coming from the speaker that is reproducing it (sound), it is cause by a "positive" air pressure on the mics diaphragm to produce a "positive" cone motion, in short "in phase", where the sound pick up by the mic will be amplified and reproduce again by the speaker, and the whole cycle goes on and on (sound is cause by the compression and rarefaction of the air molecules). If your speakers has frequency peaks on its response, this is where it is likely to occur. It is also influence by the room acoustics (room modes)

looking at the local chinese speaker products: neusch, T&T, crown, live etc. which driver tops for the full horn design like the L36 and WSX?
The P Audio 650EL is a good contender, but it seems better suited for a bass reflex like the W-Bin. The SD 18 should be the best, but it goes with a high cost. for a compromise, for a about of 6k php, which one is better?

wbin is not a bass reflex ..
what happen to your WSX cabs?

qts, qes and BL are 3 main parameters you need to consider on this SL36 and WSX horn. you can play with the hornresp to fine tune the 650EL on WSX or SL36.

dj jojo,

how does your sub (tapped horn) perform? is that an 18 inch version? nice build quality!
can you please post the horn resp frequency response? driver you use?

regards
