This thread is a continuation of the EnABL Processes thread here:
EnABL Processes This thread is for listening impressions and questions concerning applications. This is not to contain the technical side of things. Those posts will be deleted. The thread for that is here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...32#post1460032 |

To get the ball rolling I would like to witness the following test:
8 drivers. 4 EnABLed, 4 not, 4 boxes. First listen to all four of the untreated in an AB test to confirm there is little or no difference among them, hopefully. Then swap out 2 of the 4 and replace them with 2 of the EnABLed and do a comparison. Finally all 4 EnABLed to listen side by side again. I think that would give me the greatest satisfaction in making my decision and offering comments. At this point all I have is an AB test with one set of drivers with planet10 treatment and one set with planet10 treatment and EnaABLed so my opinion cannot be considered very accurate at this point but my impression is that EnABLing the driver seems to remove the "cloud". It seems to sound less like a speaker that the non-treated driver. My 10 cents. |

Will I be able to post the nuts and bolts of application here? Will others also be able to post their application pics and instructions too?I think it is intrinsic to allowing folks to be able to post on their qualitative experiences. Bud |

Yes Bud. The wording of the title may not be the best but we can work on that once we get some impressions. I think it's fair to allow for those who have done the work to comment on the hows and whys of the treatment but as you know we are trying to avoid the conflictual nature of the previous thread. I believe it's also fair for those wishing to know about the treatment again to receive that here. I hope that all concerned, including you will respect that and not take this into the technical side.

Cal,
Can we bring posts on treatment and listening from the original thread and post them here? And would it make more sense to also bring forward quantitative posts to that new thread? I will be happy to help do so, and really, most of John k, soongsc, Jon Ver Halen and many of dlr's posts would be useful there. I will be happy to provide post numbers for both if it can be done. The title "listening impressions" seem a bit limited, but I guess application techniques are also here.

Cal,
Quote:
I have auditioned a pair here and they will do very nicely. Not at all hard to listen to untreated, but with a healthy dose of confusing signal when pushed by complexity or dynamics. An extremely lucky find, provided by Al, because he is not interested in furthering someone else's, or his own business, by performing the tests. Bud |

Can I post a list of potentially useful posts from the previous thread that Bud had posted to help a budding EnABLer? It was from post #2336 of the original thread, found here:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...90#post1428990 EDIT - I tried to quote Bud's post but the links didn't work so I've removed them. If you click the link above it will take you to Bud's post where the links are live. I hope this helps set the stage for people who want to try this and lead to further listening impressions. Carl |
