erwincantona,
DAC End use a 18bit 44KHz DAC chip so you can use a more simple USB->SPDIF like in the Cheap system 3 Cheap hi-end system |

Why is it too late to isolate at the I2S side ?
You can argue that you don't want the noise from the PC to go to the Hiface. Then you only need 1 isolator at high speed (USB2). But wouldn't you find it more important to isolate the Hiface (which operates at HF) from the DAC ? In that case you need 4 channel lower speed, as suggested. Patrick |

wow these are flying out the door!! but absolutely would be great to find an isolator solution as GB not just because of the group buying power, but also because we have a hive-mind here all focused for the one purpose. I take it 4 x murata SMD traffos would be no good? like used for spdif isolation

480 Mbps is the specification of the bus itself, not the Hiface. Just because a road is limited to e.g. 70mph, doesn't mean you have to driver that fast!
I measured 3-4 Mbps at 24 bit 44.1KHz. I'll try to do a measurement at 192KHZ in the next few days. Last edited by Spartacus; 8th May 2010 at 03:35 PM. |

I think we need someone to test one of these ....
USB Interfaces « Circuits@Home If it's satisfactory for our purposes, we could contact the maker for a GB. |
