I have the original Onley article from April 1937 in pdf format if anyone is interested.

I am! You actually have this?? 😀 That must have been the one I saw. 1937 sounds about right. Was it concrete, or did i misremember that part? PM sent...
also at his site - dunno if it puts a strain on P10's bandwidth or not

I wonder if for the time being, I could build enclosures for Alpair 7.3s or 7Ps and use my WK165 MLTLs for lower frequencies?
I take it a miniDSP could split the digital signal into high and low before going into two dacs.

Thanks Dave. So all I need to do is chose a enclose for either the 7.3 or 7P MAs I can order either from Darcher here in Au.
Both are about the same price. What's the difference?
Would a simple "Golden Ratio" box be adequate?
Thanks again.
Cheers, Mack

Thank you Bob. At AU$211. I'll be looking into a PLLXO assuming that can power 2 amps.
FLAC/laptop > DAC > PLLXO > 2 amps > 2 sets of speakers?
Looks like the Alpair 7.P is a little more efficient so would be better for my 8w/c SET.
I guess what frequency to cross at will depend on the enclosure.

You may need a pre-amp forsufficient grunt to drive the PLLXO.
Add that and change FLAC/laptop to AIFF/macMini and you have my system.

miniDSP is analog in >> analog out. nanoDIGI is SPDIF in >>SPDIF out.
Bob
MiniDSP also support i2s digital in/out and combined with MiniDigi you have digital input and combined analog and spdif output.
Maybe some of these other mentioned designs have exceeded it BUT seems to me Brines Alpair 7 TL's with a pair of MJK's H Frame subwoofers would make a fine set up. Doesn't this qualify as a FAST system? Plans are easily available on both.

True, and you can do many weird and wonderful things if you are willing and equipped to play with stacks of miniDSP brand products. I am not, so my choices are more limited.
Bob
Limitations are good things. I'm allowing myself to be seduced by cool complexity. I must fight that tendency.
I was happy enough with my B.B. MTLTs then I was given a SS amp which I'm compelled to put to use.
I'd like to have a bi-amped system but only if I can keep it simple and inexpensive.

ML-TLs are going to take the FF165 as low as they will go… they are not a sub for a real woofer, but will get you an idea.

A pair of Alpair 12PW per side can deliver pretty decent bass in an MLTL - Dave could probably post some pictures of same

I bet they'd sound good but at AU$170. ea plus shipping puts them out of my range. I'd ask on the sub-woofer forum for low cost subs but want something to go with Alpair 7Ps.
