I never would have thought that a hanging configuration for PSU, amp, and crossover components would affect the sound. As you say, "cleaner clearer sound". Maybe you're onto something here.

An amp do not belong on or in a speaker thats why. Resonances from the speaker to the amp.

I agree. But I wanted to simplify audio things. I did a quick off the speaker then on the speaker by hanging. Very close sound to my ears so I hung them up.

Putting xovers on the floor is better than hard mounting them on or in speakers. Hanging them is about as good as having them on the floor. And they are hidden from view!

When building these speakers I did FR using inexpensive resistors and solen caps. When I finalized the xover I bought some Mills Rs and put in some teflon caps in a few places for solens. I could not measure a difference with my FR. My ears could hear the diff and my girl friend asked, out of the blue, "Wow. You really improved them."

I also don't think measuring FR hung vs unhung would show up in a FR. I don't think vibrations or noise affect FR much.

Great design and you touch a interesting theme: glass enclosures.
Like big ships in small bottles... anyone?

Beautifully and skillfully done. Makes me want to try a Hypex. Lot of emphasis on the power supply, which is half the equation anyways. What are the specs or models for this setup?

4-Channel-L25D with A1000-SMPS from Cristi and two WLX-7 protection boards modded to work with DC-power. Case from Hifi2000.
I'm quite happy with the amp - no hum at all.

Haven't desided on front design yet.

With a little luck, I'll have it done by Christmas
Now here's a thought. Why not change the design totally. Have the output stage directly fed by the mains power and have transformer fed (1k3KW transformers at 120kHZ have very little iron) loudspeakers with an opto coupled input stage.
Power is no problem.
If it was designed with high voltage MOS FET output transistors it could run nicely from a 440volt 3phase power supply!
I will show you my design when it is built.
