X,
The $150-$200 shipping is not the problem, it's the $750 for the parts that puts this out of reach for me. I have been waiting for months and months just to pull the trigger on the 18 drivers; and there are on sale. The PVR is $30 off x2 for a $60 savings...so I could spend $200 on MDF and plywood, I can't spend $500 or more for cut pieces, no matter how wonderfully accurate they might be.

Hi @sjhorton1184 ,
Price is $600 a pair and shipping in CONUS is probably $130 to $150 or thereabouts. Are you still interested? I am getting an order out to the CNC shop now.

We have firm commitments from @Russellc and @Miked65

GB List - please send me PM with your PayPal account name and your address so that I can calculate the shipping cost. I’ll send you a PayPal invoice.

More progress gluing the 3/4in square ledger onto the baffle using Titebond and clamps. The wings have predrilled pilot holes for you to make accurate and well spaced holes for the wood screws to mount the wings to the speaker. I only have enough clamps to do this one at a time. The glue sets under clamp pressure in under an hour so it goes faster than you think.

I am trying to decide on the finish. I’m going to paint it either white or black. No stain or oil this time.

Invoices have been sent to Russellc and Miked65.

This is cool for the XSD Flatpack GB to finally be happening!
Yes, it is. This thing is moving forward. I am excited with this project. Amp boards almost completed. Steady progress with both way past point of no return. All parts on hand, once this arrives.

Nice to see new people signing up, hope more sign up for flat packs. It's a real bargain without which, this build never would have happened for me.

I use Titebond and 1in stiff flat paintbrush for painting trim. Apply glue to MDF sheets and spread with brush.

For gluing woofer array to baffle and base I used Loctite PL Premium construction adhesive in large caulk gun tube. The PL Premium is too thick and viscous to spread with a brush. A popsicle stick works though. Make sure you use gloves. The stuff has no known solvent that is effective. Once it gets on your hands all you can do is wait for it to cure and leave a film that you can peel off your hands. :)

Don’t forget the 6mm x 30mm dowel pins. You only need about 20 of them per speaker but they come in 100 pack. I’m sure they will be handy later on.

BokWin 100 Pack Wooden Dowel Pins 6mm x 30mm (Approx 1/4" x 1-1/5") Wood Fluted Dowels Rods Kiln Dried Fluted and Beveled, Hardwood Crafts Dowel Pegs https://a.co/d/1BqeRhk

You will also need at least 6 clamps to be able to assemble these parts evenly. I used DeWalt brand but they are pricey. These might work just as well.

WORKPRO Bar Clamps for Woodworking, 6-Pack One-Handed Clamp/Spreader, 6-Inch (4) and 12-Inch (2) Wood Clamps Set, Light-Duty Quick-Change F Clamp with 150 lbs Load Limit Blue https://a.co/d/bhZPCDk

Instead of rubber feet or spikes, I used felt pads on mine and that lets you slide them around vs carrying them. They are heavy speakers. 8 woofers and the wood plus XO and heavy midrange. I think they were 55 to 60lbs each if I recall.

Scotch Felt Pads, Felt Furniture Pads for Protecting Hardwood Floors, Round, 1 in. Diameter, Beige, 32 Pads https://a.co/d/cPg345c

I have received payment from Russellc and Miked65. Thank you!

Bought those clamps to go with the ones I already have. If not sufficient, will get some more substantial version!
