Who is interested in a groupbuy of Mark Kelly's DC controller PCB and related parts

A couple of quick questions. I visited the build notes site and would like to know a few things. IS there a component list avalible (for those of us purchasing our own parts). Is it also possibile to get what you reccomend for parts (higher quality or type) most importantly what wattage and type of resistor do you recomend? I remember that when you started this you mentioned that it was designed for standard components but better ones would yeild a overall bgetter circuit, is this still true? Lastly what value resistor should be used to parallel the motor supplied by the group buy?

Mainly i am asking this because i plan on salvaging most of the pars out of copiers (they use some good parts in those things, even hi temp caps, also connector and plugs). I recommend to others go to a copier repair place and ask for their circuit boards, they have to pay to dispose of them and have to remove them from units before recycling them,. These boards are filled with good parts.

I built and tested a controller this afternoon and it works as advertised (I am very relieved to be able to say that).

There is one kludge in the build which is that the leads on the speed selector switch are too large for the PCB holes. Since these are through hole plated boards it is not a good idea to enlarge the holes by drilling them - you'll destroy the plating. You can either slot the holes with a 1mm drill or reduce the leads - I simply cut the leads at a shallow angle with a pair of snips.

I made a couple of errors in the ordering process so two of the resistors will be Welwyn RNC 55s instead of the Vishay / Dales. The Welwyns are even better than the Dales but they're three times the price.

I will update the build page tomorrow and include a full components list with details of recommended parts. I will include the phots I took during the build process if they are any good (my camera doesn't focus well in low light). The build took me two hours being very careful and taking lots of phots.
 
The kits and PCBs for which I have received payment will be sent as soon as the post office opens tomorrow.

I apologise to all for the errors I made with Paypal, I'm new to this and its has been more work than I realised to get the thing off the ground.

Accordingly, there will definitely not be a second round of kits. There are still a few PCBS still available and there may be some kits if the non-payers don't ante up soon.
 
I just got back from spending far too long at the post office, convincing the authorities I wasn't sending Anthrax all over the world. All kits and PCBs for which I have completed PayPals have been sent.

The PCBS were sent as printed matter (well it is a printing process of a form isn't it?). The kits had to have customs declarations which I have filled out with correct values. Please be clear that if your country levies duties or taxes they will be your responsibility, not mine.

I have paid the local tax (GST) for the Australian participants..
 
The OPA2277 is an instrumentation grade op-amp with the standard pin arrangements for dual op amps in 8 pin DIP package. Its virtues in this circuit are its very low input offset voltage and more importantly, very low thermal input offset drift.

There are many possible replacements, ranging from the TL072 / LF353 / LF412 up to expensive specialist instrumentation op-amps like the AD 708.

I am away from home for work at the moment I will fix the links when I return.
