What kind of signal wire do you use in your DIY DAC or CDP?

I use 28 ga solid core silver wire and teflon spaghetti tube. It's reasonably priced and not that difficult to thread the wire through the tube. As long as you don't need long runs of it. And if it's in a hook up application, it should be short anyway.

I use this in one of my product's too. I also have some 3 way sheilded stuff that i use. Now-a days the expencive part is labour time and the actuall rca connector's.

I have a Dac kit connected to a CD-ROM with a cheap RCA cable, any suggestions on how to link the CD-ROM digital output (2 pins) to the input of my Dac (also 2 pins on the PCB); the distance is < 10 cm.

This thread shouldn't even be in this section of the forum as it really doesn't relate to digital applications at all. This is just another rehash of the same 'my cables sound better than yours' debate.

My original question was mainly to find out what type of wire to use inside a DAC or CDP to carry digital signal. So I'm not sure why you think it doesn't belong here. It's like TV programs - if you don't like it, don't watch it.

That's very good speaker wire – but it's “only” an alloy.

I was referring to pure silver (6N) ribbons heat - treated. They can be cut even narrower, or wider, or used in parallel – 2 ribbons of different width (combination I prefer!) This is a sample of low signal hook-up ribbon I use in all my modifications:

coax, and either soldered connections or bnc connectors. you can use sma connectors if bnc is too big for your application.
