I would like to know whats the best full wave Russian Rectifier to 6C33 SE?
I have a bunch of 5C8S but a member told me it have current in excess.
So Iam thinking 5C3S.
''GSTube.com''. Tubes, sockets etc. Search result for 5z3
Any opinion or other tube?
Thanks in advance
This will be so hungry , that no tube will do.
Cree SiC --->|---
. . . 3b28 ...... 872b
You have a interesting comparinson set.I have two amp 6c33 SET one with tube rectifier and other with SS rectifier to me the best rectifier is :
CREE CSD01060 Silicon Carbide Schottky Diode, cheap and great
Do you mean say CREE its best sound over the tube rect?
What is your tube rect??
Thanks
vacuum is NO GO
Vacuum is YES GO with right rectifiers. Some later TV damper diodes have 400 mA steady current capability and low voltage drop (~10 V) at this current.
I would like some answers if possible:
How many hours a 5C8S will lasts feeding one 6SL7 and one 6C33?
Power output expected is 12/13W.

I aware 6C33 need various adjusting Bias in the first 100 hours.secondly, 6c33 is regulator tube with high heat. must search for stable piece, they like to have unstable bias
Would be useful to know what Bias type has better sound, Manual Bias or Autobias?
Thanks
I don't know the type but there is a Russian rectifier tube with the same shape as the 6c33, you might like that for aesthetic reasons.
That's the 5C8S I think.
5V @ 5A. Thirsty heater
Thanks for your useful tipI would use fixed bias to reduce the heat under the chassis and give more flexibility.
I agree that the Cree diodes sound much better than any tube rectifier I've ever heard, but for what you're doing, I would use the 3A version.
Fixed Bias is the same AutoBias?
Any opinion about the Fairchild 8A 1200V?
Thanks for help

Nonsense. My mercury rectifiers do 2.5A continuous and 30A peak. Soundwise comparison to Cree...sorry, they just don't fit on the same scale.
Hi,Max. supply voltage (per plate): 500 VAC
Max. output current: 200 mA
Max. peak output current: 3 A
Max peak reverse voltage: 1,700 V
Max plate dissipation: 12 W
Heater 5 V 3 A
This 5Z9S rectifier is DHT or Filamentary?
Do you estimates the soft start ramp in how many seconds?
Thanks

This is the link to the specs. sheet you gave earlier: (no DHT)
''GSTube.com''. Tubes, sockets etc. Parameters and characteristics 5z9c
Thanks for the suggestion, they dont offer assembled bridge in four unit sets?
If I understand your meaning, as of this morning Digikey shows 891 bridge rectifiers with peak reverse voltage above 380V. That's a fair bit of choice.
