ULTIMATE CORE

Micrometals Arnold Powder Cores
Hello
greetings just want some knowledge on cores used in dclass amps
1 Optilloy optimised alloy powder
2 Super MSS
3 Mollypermalloy powder cores
4 Sendust kool mu cores
5 Iron powder cores

which is the best core from the five following materials secondly does more
permeability make the core better i ask this because everyone is using
iron powder core but DETEX audio uses sendust material core in all his d class
amp kits and lastly what core do proffessional d class amps use in high power amps hoping someone can enlighten me and all
warm regards

Hi,

I have this green toroid, but has unusually high value of inductance, in the picture it only takes one turn to make a 64uH value, 4 turns in this toroid has a value of 500uH!
Can I use this with any class D amp?

I have another yellow toroid from computer smps, I'll just make a gap to make it usable.

Thanks

On the picture I see 2 turns and 2 cores together. Al=64000nH/2/4=8000 nH/turns^2 It's ferrite. If you can break it into 4 symmetrical quarters, and insert 4*0.4 mm air gap, it can be a good core for output inductor.

Yellow toroid is very bad, gapping makes it somewhat better, but not good.

hello
greetings can anyone please reply to post 2582 for best core IRS3000 IS WORKING
is iron powder or sendust material core better
warm regards

Optimal material and permeability is a very long procedure to analyse.
Especially if there is no optimisation target specified.

I can tell only 1 thing: that iron powder on your link (840 mW/ccm, mu=75) is not good enough, but there are many other options.

Hello Pafi
greetings is this ok core KS157060 please advice me suitable better core

I have no idea what does that part number cover.

I prefer multi-gapped ferrite toroids, and gapped ferrite pot (or RM) cores with litz wire.

I copy what I answered to you in PM:
"There are a huge number of usable solutions, but I have no idea which is achievable for you, and which is the "best" for you. There are many optimisation target, like price, size, weight, idle loss, full load loss, EMI, etc... There is no such thing as "Best", because it depends on your preferences! This is why you find different cores in different products."

For example if you choose very low permeability, then idle loss can be very low, but full load loss will be higher. You have to decide which is more important for you!

There are general rules, but they never say what is the best, they say "if you do this, you will get that". If you want to know, you have to ask about basics, not the solution!
