Hi bjorno,
Like always: nice work! I like your comments and hints.
As to the tapped horn: I prefer the 4 section over the 3 section simulation, it makes it a lot easier to level out the peaks and valleys in the passband, also, keeping the L12 dimension as short as possible has a tendency to clean up the impulse response
I don't think that you need much more equalization and filtering with a tapped horn than with any other vented enclosure. This is probably a gross simplification, but they all unload below the passband, and they all have audible artifacts above the passband that should be filtered out. In practice this doesn't seem to be a major problem at home volume levels (below house wrecking).
In the end the room is going to be the real problem.
Regards,
is this... your final answer?
Hi nephylum,
I don't feel it would be productive for me to go any further without having measured values for the driver you want to use.
Regards,
since the company doesnt offer an le measurement... would you like for me to purchase the driver and send it to you?
19Ov.2 Double Fold
Hi nephylum,
I modified an old drawing that uses the double fold tapped horn. This should give you an idea if you want to go any further with the 19Ov.2 (size and all...). Let me know if you want to build something like this, and need the internal dimensions.
Regards,

YES... I WANT TO BUILD THIS!!!!!
internal dimensions would be sweet. thanx!
f3 @25 @100 dbHi epa,
For the fun of it I just simulated a larger box with a little less low end extension: @ 670L 2.83V/2pi/100dB w/ 25Hz @ -3dB. Provided the T/S are in the ball park, that's one nice driver.
Regards,
than guys for all the help.... hows th's cover higher bass frequency's? just to give an idea... tune to 2:17 of this song. will the th cover this well?

the th only does ~2 octaves,so it depends on how its tuned.
do you want to use it as a basgitar amp,or as a sub part of a system?
,so it depends on what you want.

i wanna use it as a sub... part of the system. my mains will be pretty loud crossed over around 55hz.

r u the same person as nephylum ?
i think the th is the way 2 go for you ,if you have room for a minimum of 400 ltr cabinet,

19Ov.2 - 18" - T/S
Hi guys,
I just got the value for the Le for this speaker from Elemental Designs, they seem to be very friendly and helpful, when their email doesn't crash. The other T/S parameters are reportedly up-to-date.
Elemental Designs Audio 19Ov.2: Le=3.1mH
For those who like to simulate.

Thanks, not good, but better than the 4 mH I assumed.

Hi, I used 5 mH for my best TH shot, but hesitated until now to post..
Here is a comparison for a TH that IMO will have good SQ if XO:ed
at 80 Hz and one other earlier suggested by Qliver that I rek.
to XO at 60 Hz or below if ever built.
PS: Listen to the attached *.wav files and compare.
