Yup...2,5V at 2,5A is just enough for one 2a3...or would I need more beef for the filaments?

That'll do nicely
Yep I know I also have a tranny with 2x2.5vct@6A and a 12.6vct@6A on it which I'm using in my direct-coupled 2A3SE at the moment:ics to be posted soon.I also have a direct-coupled triode-strapped 6L6 in use at the moment.
Anybody here have any thoughts of trying to use a 5K PP OPT that is rated for 75mA per side with this schematic? I recently foung a pair of Chicago STD potted OPTs with this rating. They appear to be of high quality and I would like to use them. I understand the general current through the 2A3 is about 60mA. This would be close to the limit but I rarely abuse my system. Also, what about running the bias point a tad bit cooler? Maybe up the cathode resistor to 800-880R?
