Well, being that he is always very open with his designs, not to mention he is generally helpful when people ask him questions when cloning his amp, I'm guessing he is a hippy. Plus there is a section in the A40 article about how some people may only want to run it in the winter time to converse energy, so I'm going with hippy heh

Torvalds was *far* from the first person to offer free software. None the less, why Pass's free designs all seem to be of very high quality, the first release of the Linux kernel was barely even functioning, not to mention good for anything. In the late 70's most hobbiest's gave their software out for free for use on minicomputers, and the ever so new market of microcomputers.
