My favorite movie ever made is ....
THE STING
Steve, you might want to check out the book "You'll Never Eat Lunch in This Town Again" by Julia Phillips. She was a producer on The Sting, as well as Taxi Driver and Close Encounters. What an amazing amount of drugs they did in the 70s, (plenty of booze, too). A lesson in how to show up and win an Oscar completely blasted out of your mind.
Kind of a chick book, but a fun read about Hollywood behind the scenes. Caused a big scandal when it came out.

Ana y los Lobos. (Geraldine Chaplin, Carlos Saura, 1973)
Very disturbing ending, a movie i refused to see more than once.
But an excellent description of Spain under Franco, and the three internal forces that enabled it ; Religion, Machismo, Militarism.
(Disneys and hard core porn are more tranquille, imo, so Asian Nurses 5 should still be in "pole position")

That one left a bad taste in my mouth.
I guess you read the one about the Donner Pass --
We've figure out how to work the Roku on netflix -- what a joy!
how the survivors accomplished
I was thinking, maybe Uruguay could win the next world cup by eating the competition. (preferably the 3 other quarter finalists of the SA event)
"Alive and Kicking"
Definitely a NO here! To prevent this, Germany would reactivate retired ape-man Oliver Kahn - just to scare everyone away. Look at him, I'm sure even his mother is scared of him. Ghana would send Gyan - it's more likely that he would eat Suarez for some unknown reasons . Last but not least the Netherlands: Nothing to worry about them, too. At least Karate Kid de Jong will be the only one who remains "Alive and Kicking".

Every now and then a German comes to remind us where we come from.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Congrats on the Roku. Fun, isn't it? We stream Netflix thru the Bluray player. Joy!
Just saw "Bottle Shock" via the Roku --
Is not a movie, but...
It is - however - a... small movie, because it has sense and its direction is very funny. Unsuitable for conservative people:

The forbidden planet -- they need to remake this movie
What was wrong with the original? Bad enough that they remade "Day the Earth Stood Still," why compound the crime?
Remakes are a pet peeve of mine- it's generally the fallback when the creativity bank is overdrawn. Not counting redone silent films in the early talkie era, I can count the number of worthwhile remakes on the mangled fingers of one hand. Let's see, Alastair Sim version of "Christmas Carol," and then... uhhh... ummmm...
Remake of "Planet of the Apes"
The good ones: "Ben Hur", "Mutinity on the Bounty" (Version with Brando), "El Dorado"
Though I like the original version of "Logan's Run" very much, I am looking forward for the remake. If someone would ask me for a script, I would conceive the first part of the movie (Arcade) as a blend of Stanislaw Lem's novel "Transfer" and a Pasolini movie. Second part (Wilderness) would be something between "The Quiet Earth" and "Life after people"-documentary.
This would be my cast
Logan - Robert Pattinson
Francis - Zac Efron
Jessica- Amanda Seyfried
Holly - Scarlett Johansson
Doc - Zach Braff
Box - Robert Patrick
Old Man - Johannes Heesters

Maybe not of the best ever made, but....
from those which left a sign in my mind (sorry for my English):
1) A Map of the World
(1999 - Sigourney Weaver, Julianne Moore, David Strathairn)
2) Changing Lanes
(2002 - Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Affleck)
3) Before and After
(1996 - Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson)
I will try to explain you:
What is common in the 3 movies? We are like a toy in the hands of destiny? And simply, thru the course of our civilization, we have lost this simple and self-evident meaning of life? If yes, then we are not common humans. We are arrogant humans. And - very soon - we will meet our destiny, which is simply a strong kick on our backs from the infinite powers of universe. And if all the above are true, then...
respectable members of DiyAudio forum;
I will meet you - from close this time - in the incoming forum of HELL (are you ready for a such eventuality??? Hmmm....)

And please, don't quote besides the above movies e.g. the "Forrest Gump" and the symbolism of the "white feather". To my taste, this movie is tiring and is characterized from outbidding. For example, i can watch the "A Map of the World" and "Changing Lanes" one time per month. Instead, i watched only one time the "Forrest Gump".
You are right the Forrest Gump is not a movie to see often. But when I saw it for the first time. I really did like it.And please, don't quote besides the above movies e.g. the "Forrest Gump"
