Hi Cal - you're absolutely right, it's a classic pro driver with low Qt. Mostly that's because I had several of them on hand, and I know they can sound great quite a way up above 1kHz. I started a thread here to write some of my thoughts about that.

Eekels' Mini
Got my Cerwaves running yesterday.
Cerwin Vega D7 with re-coned woofers.
SEOS12 with DNA360 1" compression driver.
Generic Econowave crossover for 4 ohm woofers under 95db.
Cabinets flipped upside down so woofer is at top of baffle closer to waveguide.
Yamaha htr5540 cheapo 30 dollar swap meet receiver (works great!).
Old, yet relatively unused "like new" Kicker sealed sub in 2 cubic foot box.
I got 2 of them for 20 bucks at swapmeet! Just finished box a week or so ago.
Infinity BU2 plate amp (15 dollar sub, threw away crappy box and woofer).
10" Sony sub in sealed box running off amp from old 8" yamaha sub.
I got a pair of brand new subs with a car I bought.
I almost threw them away as I hate sony xplode. , but I decided to keep them.
I am astonished how awesome the bass is in my house, even with small amps.
These subs sound really clean. Not boomy at all. All music sounds good on this set up. I am happy even with basic econowave crossover. Sounds like it needs to be customized, though...
I am planning on going active, so I can use the extra 70 watts per channel of surround on receiver. I bought it because it has analog inputs for all surround channels.
minidsp finally designed a sub set up, so I can run 2 way with sub.
Not sure if I am going to run econo's with midbasses and subs, or waveguide/CD on one amp and 12" woofers on another, then subs.
Not planning on doing anything until I get measuring gear...
I almost planned on calling these "swapwaves". I love buying cheap crap and maximizing their potential. Even though I bought new waveguides and CD's
And new cones on the woofers
End somewhat pricey passive crossover. *sigh*

My setup
Hi Guys. Okay here is a picture of my OB setup consisting of Eminence Alpha's on the bottom, Eminence Deltalite II's in the middle and Aurum Cantus G1 ribbons on top. Sorry the video is so dark but just shot it at 3 am.
Oh yeah also the Dayton 12" sub is hooked up too.

They are very efficient drivers. I get 31hz from an inexpensive 12" poly cone in a sealed 60lt box. This is my system

Jean Hiraga contacted me.
Normally I reject hifi mags with visits at home, but I have immense respect for Jean so I invited him over.
He listened and wrote a stunning review and took loads of pictures of my complete DIY set-up.....leaving me very proud
