Spreadsheet for Folded Horn Layouts...

...and here we go, v1.0.

Expect a few bugs of course :)

This one assumes constant expansion throughout. I'm going to redo it to reflect a dual expansion with the second occurring on the last bend before the mouth, which should allow simming of different mouth sizes.

I've run into a problem trying to programmatically determine L34 (or soon to be L45). For the moment I've set it to L12 + panel thickness (like if the horn's mouth is at the bottom rather than the front. This means that it might be off a few inches compared to the sim.

Ok Brian, I'm struggling with calculating inner panels' 1-4. It's a TQWP (straight flare TH).

S1-S4 = 929.03cm2 (16"W x 9"D internal).
L12 = 20.32cm (8").
L23 = 325.12cm
L34 = 20.32cm
External Box = 97.155H x 100.965D x 44.45W (38.25" x 39.75" x 17.5")

The attached image gets close to what you're looking for. Unfortunately v1.1 will not support simming a straight flare (expansion angle=0) at the moment because some of the calculations will fail. I'll give it another look during the course of the week to see if this can be addressed.

Thanks Brian! I saved both 1.0 & 1.1. I was using 1.0 for the straight flare since I only had to deal with L12 thru L34. I used 0.01 for the expansion. What are the keys to figuring out the those 4 inner panels? When using 1.905cm (0.75") wood, the inner panels (x) widths should be 40.64cm (16"). Is Panel E the piece under Panel D (top)? What does the 72.5 & 73.6 numbers calculate?

1.0 has a few groan-worthy bugs in it. I don't suggest using it unless you know a thing or two about Excel and you're interested in modding it to fit your needs.

1.1 needs a bit a of work as well to sort out the issues between S3 and S5.

73.6 cm in the example is the position of panel E wrt the back panel. Use the "Plot" options to highlight or remove specific panels, etc., if necessary.

I'm trying to grasp the second y input option for Panel E.

Change it and see what happens :)

My path width is 22.86cm (9")
and my Mounting Depth is 22.07cm (8 11/16"), there should be a gap between the front panel and the speaker basket.

Post a screen graph of the "Path Calculations" page. That should give an idea of where things might be going off.

I've attached an updated spreadsheet for the SS15-type fold. This one includes a few new features like the option of using one of the internal panels for cone compensation, which in turn allows you to increase the path length. Also included are updated layout guides, suggested locations and cutouts for bracing, a larger version of the graph, and an instruction page for the build.

The example given in the spreadsheet is a build I'm considering for a B&C 18TBX100.
