Low ply MDF plywood… why not use real plywood? It would be stiffer, lighter and better damped.

10 & 20mH inductors

Having decided to go with a OB project route using Franks SAL driver and 2 15" eminence bass units, the xover seems simple enough....if you can source the inductors. the caps on their way (thanks Frank) but the inductors seem hard to get here in the UK or even have made to order.

Long shot I know but does any one know of a supplier here in the UK for 20mH inductors ?

This frame-with-bolted-on-panels approach is getting popular. It looks good and also allows panels to be swapped out to try other approaches. (Like only one woofer, or 2 woofers below the full range, different woofers, a mix of 2woofer sizes, etc. etc...

I have to be transiting SF and managed to take some PTO and attend Burning Amp Festival... If I see the SAL in action I may find it very hard to resist not buying one

Frank's SAL FR driver is of superb quality, built and finish. In fact one of the best made drivers Ive handled in all my years of DIYing.

I am 'running them in' on their own...as I'm waiting for passive xover components.

The open baffle panel approach also allows you to buy prefinished plywood with a ply of beautiful veneer with a clear finish already installed. Just cut it to the handy panel sizes and carefully sand the edges!

Better Photos...All built ready for the xovers, though I am putting some watts through them to get some hours on them. The thinking behind the acrylic fronts is that at any time its a simple job to replace with alternative colour or pattern if need be to co-ordinate with room decor...... The lady of the house did mension 'their a bit 'monolithic' aren't they. My reply: Not at all 'darling' not at all. Some people you just can't please...ekk.

I have a pair of Pass F5t monoblocks I built earlier this year. About 80watts or so each. The end goal is to run active but that will have to wait a while..existing speakers are martin Logan electrostatic hybrids which are good..or rather I should say, I like.

Hi laverda... Nice OB black finish. What drivers are you using and where can i find the wood plans for that?

I know they are eminence but what model? In europe i can find alpha 15A , delta 15A and some LF and LFA. What are the recommended?

The Eminence Alpha 15” is often used in OBs, hard to tell if these are them (mine are on loan so i can’t check label colour), but from my experience they would be very hard pressed to keep up quality wise with the SAL… there are at least 2 better models.

They could also be the Pure Audio Project Woofers that are made by Eminence. I think they are available in Europe.

I saw the blurb on those woofers, they look quite different than the ones in laverda’s OBs.
