If I went around DIYaudio all day(100's of items and links)
and complained about posted material and it's possible
intellectual property infractions my fingers would be shot.

We do not post here to sell , profit , or make any personal gain.
If anything ESP sound received free advertising.

P.S. If you read his site he explains why there are no resistor values.. The schema in question was put in the public domain
for the same reason I posted it.. Instruction and discussion!!

At least here in the US most schematics I see posted in DIY land
are covered by copyright law ...SO we are all guilty..:D
 
The schematic is copyrighted and not in the public domain, i.e., it's RE's property. If it appears on his website, it's probably legal to post it here (with appropriate attribution) by Fair Use, but if he has stated that he'd prefer that it just be linked to, good manners would be to do that. Or make your own drawing of the circuit.

RE's site is a gold mine of great info, and I think his contributions to audio hobbyists earn him a bit of deference.

Disclaimers: I am not a lawyer. These are just my personal opinions.

It should be easy to verify by cheking the size of the transformer, there will be a obvious size difference between a 500VA and a 250VA transformer :)

Right now I have a 30 lbs UI-core 2000VA transformer on my desk that needs rewinding to provide more useful outputs than a low (okay, it's 300VA or so) power 42VCT and almost all power on a 80V non center-tapped secondary... :D

:bawling: Seeing that I,ve incurred the wrath of TWO moderators
over a VERY minor issue I must rethink my position.

One could be fully anal and go after each and every possible
infringement pertaining to intellectual property rights here at
DIYaudio but that would be the same as Mcdonald's
suggesting the takedown of the hypothetical "McAmp".

When I posted that schematic I had the choice of the FULL
version, his website version and a drawing.. so I was aware
of its source and explained on my post it's place of origion.

If this is my last post on DIYaudio ,so be it. I've pirated EVERY
bit of info off of every last link of the site so there is not much
more raw info I need anymore. (Over 300 full copyrighted
schematics). I am not overreacting, but I feel this
"browbeating" will cramp my style (I'll be scared to post).
What a shame...

ok... I've attached an edited schematic showing what I think should be done with the protection diodes.... is this right?... seems to make sense to me...

Maximum Vgs on the IRFP450's is 20volts... so I have got a 15v zener, and the diode (both of which can handle 10A for the few ms before the fuse blows) ready to install. Before I go and install it, just want someone to say its the right (or wrong) way of doing it.

maybe... but the reason I put the diodes before the gate resistors was so that fault current wasn't flowing through the 27ohm resistors... they would burn quick...

I'm mainly concerned about the setup I have on the FETs connected to -Vcc. Is that setup correct? Vgs is measured from negative source voltage. And would 15V zeners provide enough protection? (that would mean at fault Vgs would make it to about 15.8 volts)

As Andrew has mentioned because this is a muliturn trimpot the adjustment sensitivity will be ok. It will be slightly more sesitive so if you are worried about it put a 56 ohm resistor in parallel with it. Use a diode into the base of T4.
