My Lord: My quasi father-in-law makes the bases for me from Mitbeau. He orginally use to make the bases from off-cuts but lately he now has to buy new timber because I have ordered so many.

I sand the bases dead smooth with a 00 sand paper then polyurethane spray them.

The top and bottom plate are 2mm thick AL and cut by Capal. But I do all the drilling. Big job this time.

Monoblock PL509 sweep tube SEP

Hi

After a few weeks of work we now have a pair of monoblock PL509 sweep tube single ended pentode amps.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Schematic has been revised somewhat.

Here's an interior shot of one of the monoblocks.

They sound superb.:)

6MD8 tube buffer

Continuing with tv tube saga, i set out to build a tube buffer using this tube:
http://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/135/6/6MD8.pdf
If you look closely, you will recognize this tube as somewhat like a 12BH7 with extra plate and common cathodes.

here is the finished product:
i have decided against using a volume control after the hole has been punched.

6C33C SE

SE on 6C33C. At the input - SRPP at 1579 tubes, driver - 6П9 (6P9) with the screen grid control.
Output tubes mode 280 V, 180 mA.
IR volume control for each channel, on-off, mute. Manual control keys on the front panel.
The volume control made on 8 relays, step adjustment 0,5 dB.

I'd pay money for that amp. Sexy and techno. Got a schematic and where did you get it from?

Very nice work!! What's the chassis material?

Is the smaller tube with the green writing from the CONN organ company. I have a bunch of them (12AU7) and I'm in Australia??

A very attractive piece IMO. And what a lovely sheen on the metal.
Is it aluminum, steel, or something else?

The small tube is a NOS Sylvania 7 pin 6AU6 pentode.

The chassis is a 2mm thick aluminium guitar amp chassis off eBay

Guitar Amp Chassis blank for JTM45 Marshall and others on eBay (end time 18-Jun-11 10:23:18 BST)

The chassis itself was conditioned with a bit of oil on a rag to get the sheen:)

Steve

Very nice,
Where is the grommet eh...fancy not putting a grommet in the front connection..Picky...lol

They are very nice but where is the grommet? LOL :)

Regards

Here is the Super Simple Single Satge Tube preamp. The PS and amp exist on one small peice of brd with no cct. All component-2-component connections, silver soldered, plus Alps pot on the output, 4oz solid brass knob and brass arty bits. A 24V wall wart connects to the grid and this 4Ss preamp sounds better than it looks. YES REALLY!

Dynakit ST35

My 2nd build, a kit! I so do like this amplifier... it's compact and performs really well.
Now I'm planning and ordering parts for a 'completely done by myself build', a SE EL84 amplifier.

Amp #1 – SEP EL84 - Transcendar OPTs, Hammond PT and the choke.
Amp #2 – SEP EL84 - vintage Philips console PT and OPTs, Hammond choke.
Amp #3 – SEP EL84 - vintage RCA Calypso console PT and OPTs, hand-wound choke.
Amp #4 – SEP EL84 – vintage Philips EL3536 RtR PT and OPTs, Hammond choke.
Amp #5 – SEP EL84 – vintage Philips EL3536 RtR PT and OPTs, two Hammond chokes.

Why so many amps of the same kind? Well, 1) building tube amps is fun – a sort of creativity 2) it would be a shame to throw away those still-excellent transformers of yore 3) to gather money for 2A3 and (maybe) 300B and ECL86 projects (and EL84 again; they, after all, sound real nice)…
