On my Pentode SE amps with the UL tap on the OPT I add a triode/pentode switch. Nothing too techo just switches from the UL tap to 100ohm resistor to the plate. SE Pentodes have a good balance of lower-mid weight and detail. Currently I'm using JJ Blue glass KT88's.Thanks guys!
The KT88 was triode but now I'n Ultralinear, like them in both mode
Originly where the triode/pentode switch is now was a volume control. But at 3/4 settinmg it buzzed. So it got the axe and the triode switch dropped straight in. They easy to retro-fit later. I run 0NF but another switch to drop in is one which may switch in a little local feed back. Easy and cheap to do.
Strange we were talking about my SE KT88 Pentode/Triode amp but I took it to a friend's house and came home with a cheque. With the amp in triode mode the purchase's veteran Tannoy 10" speakers really lifted. We tried the amp ( with JJ Blue Glass KT88s) in pentode mode-no go. I then inserted my Siemens NOS EL34 (expensive) tubes in both Pentode and Triode-awful.
So the day was won with KT88s in triode mode.

Hello
I would like to ask some question from tube expert guys..
Do the half tube can drive the KT88??
Rather than asking in the Picture Gallery thread, I suspect you'll get more answers if you start a new thread.

Some how I missed this. Very, very nice. Top layout. Very cool. I like big time. Don't stop.My latest creation. Class A, 3W per channel, single ended. Can be easily changed to pentode mode. I made this one for sale, but still not sold More info here: Forums - SE84C+ Review Tone Audio Magazine

I wanted to try the ordinary O-rings. It works on the smallest lamp, because it heats up less than the bigger ones. On a bigger ones they just begin to melt. So i removed them. There is a possibility to order O-rings made of silicon or so, but the quantities at the factories are high. So no sound difference with those in a photos. I just don't have newer photos without it.
Oh my gosh, i am sorry for the picture that comes to your mind when you look at the photos i uploadedI'd also like to see a woman putting those tube dampers. Sexy.

Tubemaniac: Lovely build.
Previously I just posted the amp section of a 300B I am building for some one else. It uses the JJ Full Music 300B/SE tubes. The PS, here, is assembled but not wired. The cap on top is the Mundorf tube caps.
