Hello Panos29

the damping element is an piece of rubber with two M3 srews on both sides. This is fixed between 2 cubes. This is an very effective suspension for microphonic DHT tubes. Both 801 and 26 works perfect.

My First SE Tube Amp

Ok,

So here is my first attempt.

A SE amp with a 6BM8 and a pair of level indicator tubes.
Housing was an old Tandberg tape deck that I salvaced the case and level indicator tubes from.

Drivers were NOS 6BM8 from Zenith.

Have a look at:

YouTube - Tube Amp REV 2 Part 5 - Finished.wmv

I am really proud of it, and it works every day in my office connected to an MP3 player.

I would put up a picture but I cant figure out how..

2 watts. I listen through a pair of arials. I believe they are supposed to be 92db/meter. I would definitely consider a more efficient speaker.

I have a built a few boxes using the Fostex FE206. An 8" speaker with anefficiency rating of 96db. These are not only excellent sounding drivers but make even my 3W 6AS7 SET sound LOUD!!

6BM8 Amp Info

CCRONN,

That looks great. I am new to this site, and went to this last post in the thread, and saw your creation.
I love the indicator tubes.
Do you you have a schematic? What is the output of the amp?

Thanks, i really am proud of my first project.
Schematics I used are from lighthouse electric:

Low Power SE Vacuum Tube Power Amp

I deleted the neg feedback loop from the output to the input.
The indicator tubes are not too hard to get going.
If you are going to try it just shoot mer an email.

As for output, about 3 watts in triode mode and peaking at 5 in ultralinear.
Nice little listining amp, I use it in my office at work.

And again, thanks!

Congratulation!
I like pocket amplifiers!

Hi Azazello
I like small amplifiers too.

Here are a couple more pics of the inside

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

All components to the E80CC dual triode input stage
bar the coupling caps and the feedback resistors ( the ones with the red insulated leads)
had to be stood on end, in order to get them into
the limited space available.
They are terminated at the top onto an up and over earth bar
taken from the input star.

The completed inside is shown below

This pic below, gives an idea of the size of the amplifier :D

Great job!
I love the overkill OPTX. The rh really sings with good Ptx.
