Official M2 schematic

I like IXTQ36N30P and IXTQ36P15P, which seem a pretty good match to me. Kind of like two IRFP240/IRFP9240
glued together in one package, but with higher transconductance and a better junction-case thermal resistance.

Haven't tried them in an M2, though they are currently serving nicely as source followers in another of my amps.

Thanks Needtubes for IXYS pair references :) Greetings

Due to my disappearance from this 'place' for many years, I am not a First Watt builder yet. This not for long.

In all of my Aleph escapades I've used IR brand IRFP140 with total satisfaction. I tripped over a couple hundred many years ago for very cheap. It's a 100v part that can do much more current than an IRFP240. This with only a bit more capacitance.

For me the P-channel part comes into question...

Has anyone looked into whether or not the IRFP9140 has any strange anomalies?

I know i know - "try it",..... and I will :) Just wondering if there is any experience.

+1 for the IRFP140 in Aleph. Used it in my "Aleph Single" build, works perfectly.
(Aleph Mini w/ 2.2 amps bias and LSJ74 JFET front end so far, have a 2x20 V transformer on order to convert into proper Aleph, and so I can use the PSU for the M2 also. Based on the experience with my local mains voltage, I expect rails of 24V for the Aleph J, and up to 25V for M2)

But a question here: when I look at the data sheets, I expect, like others before (ilimzn ?), a better pairing for M2 to be IRFP240 with 9140 instead of 9240.
Anybody tried 240/9140 in M2 yet ?
Would anything speak against it ?

Best regards, Claas

Greeting,

In my M2 I use IRFP240 / 9140 and the sound is great, I like it.

So, last weekend I hooked up (more like Frankenstein-ed up) my mostly complete and fully functioning M2 up to my speakers for a listen. Ran some music through it, ran some movies/TV through it, even ran some video games through it. I must say, it's a pretty amazing amplifier! I was only up until 1:00am on both Friday and Saturday listening to it. Mr. Pass :worship:

It's all hooked up for now to my PS4 through a Schiit Modi (nice, but a DAC is on my list), into a B1, then driving a pair of Klipsch KG5.5's; currently for some movie watching. I need to, and can't wait to give it a proper listen with some lossless or some vinyl! I'll have to get some pictures of it to post up here soon. Until then I'm going to keep on listenin' and keep on smilin'!

and where is "tnk ya ZM , for screaming all day long - that "M2 is The Papamp!!!" " ?
:p Fair enough, I did suspend all work on my F6 after hearing murmurs from a certain ZM that this is "the papamp". Thanks to everyone here who makes this forum amazing! Everyone who allows me to lurk, quietly vacuuming up crumbs of information and making vein attempts to learn something :D
