Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Good evening everyone,

I own a RaspDAC with rpi3 + AUDIOPHONICS I-Saber V3 DAC ES9023 TCXO + Screen Winstar OLED 16x2 HD44780 + power button.
I'm trying to run the screen and power button with MoOde r4b12.
Does anyone on the forum have a similar setup?
I have already tried the program dhrone (pydPiper) for the management of the screen but it does not work for version 4.

Excuse me for my English, I use google translation ....

Thank you :)

Read through this thread (I have had the power button working But I have not connected a screen)

Dear all,
sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find a clear answer even searching the forum.

I have a raspberry pi B and would like to install moode. However, I do not have an external USB reader, and I only have one SD card. So.. is it possible to install moode 4 and how should I proceed?

Thank you very much

Read this post
installing moode without external usb reader

But you will need some way to write to the SD card to put the initial image on it, and then to write the file from the post to it.

Hello all, I'm struggling with the install script and am not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

Here's where I am

1. install raspbian
2. Boot rasp and enable ssh
3. log in and run the commands, all goes well down to "write image to usb...."
4. Last message says 'save base os img for additional builds
5. I answer y and the prompt goes back to normal and then nothing happens. It says remove USB and use it to boot a raspberry pi but removing it and rebooting does nothing, and leaving the drive attached does nothing so I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong

Anyone help? thanks

After step 5, did you take the card you just made in step 5, and put it into the sd slot of your pi?
And then you have to let it run a long time, I let mine run overnight to be safe.
And I was never able to get this method to work, but others have, I ended up using the single card method that I have the link to in my previous post.

Did you plug it before starting the builder or just when it is asked to ?

The process look disk devices just after asking you if all usb are unplugged and then look again just after asking you to plug your usb sd card reader or usb drive.

Then the builder compare theses two steps to find the usb reader.

Could you tell us what the builder told you about usb detection ?

Regards

in the past moode was way better then voliumio but volumio 2 is working great now.
If there is no solution with a img I will permanent abandon moode audio

sorry for the negative post but after 3 days I'm done with it:irked:

I'm working on a new version of the builder (hope an easier one).

Anyway, could you please post last lines ( around latest 20 ones ) of the /home/pi/mosbuild.log ?

The ssh command from Heeboo just show Error ... but we want to understand exactly why ?

So look at /home/pi/mosbuild.log, please ;)

OK i See ...

Could you confirm us that you don't set and use a proxy.

If you use it, it could be possible to fall in this case and there could be an answer to fix that.

If you don't use one, it is not really a builder problem.

As you can see, after apt-get has downloaded package, there is a cheksum control on it and this checksum fail !!!

I see two reasons for this :
- Internet line problem (i don't really believe in that)
- SD near end-of-life or corrupt (bad blocks on it)

Unfortunately, we can't do anything to help you beacause it is an apt-get issue and not a builder/moode error.

However, at this stage (and if there wasn't errors before local UI component), you must have a moodeaudio without local UI (7'' official touch display for raspberry pi) .

Did you try to connect to http : // moode.local ?

Silent night?

Yikes - I just went to moodeaudio.org to download an image (need to reinstall as SD card has failed). Have found that I now need to build an image or some such. I am happy to get into this but my Linux skills are very shoddy and I do not have time to contend with it before Christmas (LOTS of things to do before family arrive!) :mad:.

Is there an idiot's step-by-step guide available anywhere please? Even better, is there a pre-built image (for a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B)? I'd be happy to use an old version (was running 3.8 before, I think).

Please help - I really don't want to be using the lad's Alba ghetto blaster on Christmas day! :(

Sometimes also it can be the repo server. I agree the SD card can be at fault but if I'm reading the message trail correctly, it seems like @evert1 has hit the same point of failure with different cards. My approach here would be just not to try to install the optional local display during the build but add it in manually later.

As an aside, I just tried to wget the same browser .deb using the same URL and succeeded without issue
Code:
http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/c/chromium-browser/chromium-browser_60.0.3112.89-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1010+1_armhf.deb

Do you understand the last sequence in @evert1's log, beginning with
Code:
pi@moode:~ $ Get:124 [url=http://mirror.nl.leaseweb.net/raspbian/raspbian]mirror.ams1.nl.leaseweb.net | powered by LeaseWeb[/url] stretch/main armhf xorg armhf 1:7.7+19 [38.4 kB][/QUOTE]

This comes after the install of the optional local display fails. It would seem the script was restarted but I don't understand how this would be the next log entry nor how output from midway through the "** Update Raspbian package list" activity would show up like this. Something is screwy.

Hi,
No id did not set a proxy. i have a normal stable internet connection in the Netherlands.:)
I don't know whats in the moosimbu.sh script. but with both ways I get this error.
i tried 3 different cards and a pi-2 and pi-3

Sorry to say, but I think I have to agree with evert1, I downloaded, installed and had volumio 2 up and running in minutes. This used to be a great thread for tips and tweaks for improved sound quality and up and coming features etc. Now it's just page after page of users trying to get a working image, can't remember the last post about moode it's self. I just hope you guy's can find a solution that will work for most people.

I agree, kit1cat. Thanks for reminding me about Volumio, I had forgotten about it and it's good to hear that it is still easy to set-up. I will go now back to it... I wonder if I'll rediscover why I left it in the first place?!

I will continue check-in on moode as I have had a good run with it - I hope these set-up issues don't kill it, but it needs to be more accessible if it's gonna keep eejuts like me on board.

@kit1cat

I'm firmly in favor of providing a moOde builder script. Having said that, I agree the development process has been much more painful than any of us imagined. I have no doubt we'll get finished but unfortunately we're playing out our sausage making in full view.

I wonder if it makes sense to split off moODe builder/installation discussion to a separate thread so this thread can remain the way it was when you were liking it. I don't like this solution---I've seen other projects' attempts to run parallel threads get hopelessly tangled up over time---but it may do in the short run.

Kent

I agree but repo looks fine for most people and tested it before replying :/
I also can't understand this try with NL repo :/

Never meet this and i built Moode a dozen of times today during testing phase before sending to Tim a new version.

It will restart at each boot until step file is not deleted but we must not see pi@moode$ in the log;)

@evert1, once you have rebooted after first phasis, did you launch something else than :
tail -f /home/pi/mosbuild.sh ?

Maybe someone could do a youtube video to show how using the automatic builder to avoid mistakes ?

@ear5142

What commands do you use for the power button?

Hard through GoogleTranslate!
I have a Rasrberry B2 + Audiophonics 9023 V3 TCXO + LED 20X4
I set the moode build_recipe_v2.2 up to step
## STEP 12 - Launch and configure moOde! ##
without
## STEP 10 - Optionally squash /var/www ##
, then
Forum Audiophonics.fr • Consulter le sujet - Moode Audio support
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gcc
cd /home/pi
git clone git://git.drogon.net/wiringPi
cd wiringPi
./build
cd /home/pi
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/audiophonics/Raspberry-pwr-management/master/sds.sh

sudo nano /etc/rc.local
sudo bash /home/pi/sds.sh &
sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/audiophonics/Raspberry-pwr-management/master/softshutdown.sh
sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/audiophonics/Raspberry-pwr-management/master/softreboot.sh
cd /var/www/command
sudo cp worker.php worker.sav
sudo nano worker.php

I changed these lines so-

// command/moode jobs
case 'reboot':
sysCmd('mpc stop');
sysCmd('systemctl stop nginx');
sysCmd('sudo bash /home/pi/softreboot.sh');
break;
case 'poweroff':
sysCmd('mpc stop');
sysCmd('systemctl stop nginx');
sysCmd('sudo bash /home/pi/softshutdown.sh');
break;

The button indicator and on the board work! Maybe I'm not doing the right thing, but it works.
