I have since blown the decoder in my Arcam Alpha (a ground wire lifted overnight forcing unregulated voltage onto the output of a regulator) but I soldered in a new SMD SAA7310 and it worked fine after that. Not bad considering the EPIC mods list on that player.
LOL those ground wires are such a pain, the way they just 'lift overnight'.

I will say only this: if you use random bits of old tinned wire (e.g. from a pc smps) it's a case of how often will solder joints break, not will they. I learnt this the hard way and now only use bits of Kimber speaker wire as the quality is such you almost always get a great, solid joint.

Picked up a cd 75 from a local table top sale for 2 quid tda 1541 lovely old school player bit like an airfix kit tho,nice sound .
many have a mod at that see whats to be had bit basic but hey all good fun .
