Overdriving a tape machine
Hello Nico,
My boss gave me a task to find circuit that could overdrive a Tascam 8 track tape machine. We need something that can amplify the signal to, at least, 25-30 dBu (it doesn't need to be exact value). I think your circuit could do it.
We love it when we overdrive it, it just sound different and I thought: "this guy will understand it!".
Until now, we were using Focusrite Isa 828, but it's not enough.
So, would you be so kind and help me adopt the schematic for something like that?
I would gladly use BD 139/140- used them before- liked them!
+/- 38V like your design will be enough I think. All unbalanced ofc
It would be something like this:
RME Fireface out -> *your circuit idea* -> (10 kohms) Tascam input
