Keith Jarett, Standards Live, No.4 Too Young To Go Steady . . .
Piano and drums play very nice . . .
Bass . . . mmm . . . probably, it's his playing style . . .
Somewhat loose . . . Nevertheless, still pleasent . . .

I showed the size of J-Low to her leaving for home . . .
She said, "Looking good, go ahead."
Continued, "I'd like to move our apartment to a bigger place."
I answered, "Yes, let's do that."

We did not discussed any due dates . . .

Well understood, Nelson.
The unkown different stuffing and/or damping factor on the amplifiers are . . . as I have no equipment to see them . . .

The 88dB sensitivity . . . Nevertheless Jordan is deemed best fit for me.

Best Regards

Removed P1 and placed 1k5 . . .
Offset L: -61mV R: 2mV . . .

Then, attached 5R0 across one bias R . . .
Offset L: -18mV R: 2mV . . .

Called Markaudio in HK to order a pair of JX92S (USD320) . . .
Called twice . . .
Their action is slow . . . Probably, no service minded . . . ?

I read J-Low paper again.
I should prepare myself for the single pole high pass filter (at 100Hz).

Hi, Nelson, should I prepare a voltage filter or a current filter?

Just for an experimet . . .
Installed single pole high pass filter . . .
At the input of my BOSOZ . . .
0.22uF/27k . . .
It cuts rock bottom end frequencies . . .
It works . . .

Chinese music . . .
Sunddenly reminds me of Stanley Kubric's . . .
Barry Lyndon . . .
Aching beauty, all under the natural light . . .
Beautiful . . .
And smell of peppermint . . .

Would like to watch Barry Lyndon again with F1 sound!

Yes . . . the sound is matching with all the beautiful pictures . . . ;)

I have ordered wood for J-low . . .
J-low . . .

The original vs my plan
1829mm height vs 1800mm
641mm width vs 638mm
603mm depth vs 600mm

Still it is much taller than my height . . .
I hope there will be no sound degradation . . .

Bull s . . .
During one week . . .
I have called three times . . .
I have sent e-mail three times . . .
The Sales guy of www.markaudio.com has always promised . . .
to let me know what is their bank account number . . .
I will pay immediately . . .
But, still no news . . .
Is he a sales guy . . . ? ? ?
Mo . . . fu . . . rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr r r r r r r r . . . !!!

Any of you knows any JX92S supplier, except the bloody Markaudio?
Would appreciate your info.

Here is my final version of Pass F1 . . .

By the way, J-Low . . .
The size of the cabinet is big . . .
The weather is too hot . . .
So, I have ordered the cabinet building . . .
To a professional craftsman . . .
All will take one month . . .

I daresay . . .
Together with BOSOZ (of unusual form) . . .
This amp is the best I have ever owned.
Indeed . . .
I highly appreciate Nelson for your lavish advice
given all the way through to the birth of this wonderful set . . .

When I finish J-low,
I will write about the full set
and will send it to Passdiy gallery.

Best Regards
jH

Drivers arrived . . .
Small and cute . . .

Hm . . .
Reading J-Low article once, twice . . .
I feel that the low frequency gain from the horns is probably too much . . .
There could be a possibility to reduce down the gain somewhat with a smaller horn . . .
But, awkward estimation might results in a disappointment . . .

Hm . . .
I go with the original . . .
When I have flooding of bass, I could control it without re-building the horn . . .
But, if . . . if I meet drought of bass . . . No, I don’t want to think about it . . .

The people who have built it seem to like it very much,
and I have seen a few examples on web sites, very nicely
done. On the other hand, there is no miracle or exactitude
to horn design, and if want to change it, you should feel
free - you have to change it a lot before it sounds bad, and
even then you can adjust it with stuffing and a little eq.

You gave me no sleep one night . . .
Heew . . . it's good news . . . :)

In general, I do not like to use silver-plated wire in my audio system . . .
It often causes negative effect in top frequency sound . . .
If the top frequencies are the small irregular waves on the lake, the silver-plated wire would be a sharp sun shine on them . . .
My eyes easily become tired . . .
However, for my new system incl. F1, the sun shine boosts positive effect and does not make my eyes tired . . .
Just more beauty on the scene . . .

I replaced all wires with the silver-plated . . .
And, I go with the same wire for JX92S . . .

Hi Nelson,

If you consider the choices, the J-lo is the most "practical" of the speakers you feature on your DIY site. even at 6' tall!

It is probably on a lot more people's minds what with the new current amps you designed being such a :hot: topic.

I think it would be a popular choice for more people if you someday found a little time to try some drivers other than the JX92, even though that is considered a superb driver.

The current drive amps have low power, and a bit more efficient driver would be appealing. Also, as you have mentioned, efficient drivers have a certain lively sound. I remember you mentioning a particular smaller Fostex driver as having an excellent high end, but I don't remember the model. Would it be a good candidate for the J-lo's? It would probably be at least 3dB more efficient.

The 168E Sigma is like by many arond here...
How about larger drivers such as the Fostex FE 206?
They are even more efficient, but their better bass response might be wasted since it is the horn size which ultimately is limiting bass?
I guess they could play a lot louder without excursion problems though....

Thanks for any comments,

Mark

The excursion issues are a major effect, given the relatively small
Xmax of the Fostex 206 and 166. The horn gives more boost to
the bottom than you probably want, but by the time you are
done taking that out with a high pass filter and/or EQ, you are
left with greater dynamic range, and you get to turn the system
up higher than otherwise. It's a good way to get some orchestral
levels from single drivers.
