Hi people
I was wondering if anyone might be familiar with these amlifiers ?
I picked it up on ebay to power my old Tannoys .It is in bad condition .I will need to retube at least and it looks like a truck ran it over .
Appears to be high quality but looks can be deceiving. It is not even in my hands yet but I know I will have to disect it and start from scratch.Beginning with straightening the chasis.
I am a total babe in the woods when it comes to schematics etc..
A few of my freinds have been around the block so to speak.
I think this is a good place to start so I will Run this thread from start to finish. I am really looking forward to this project and can't wait to get started.

Yes, I thought that, but wasn't sure.I would think so twin sets of tubes.
How many speaker sockets, and how marked?
KAILIN
Hi,
Mama mia! What happened to this one ?
You give me way too moch credit, John.
All I've been able to unearth so is that, yes...the manufacturer exists and yes, that truck must have been a heavily loaded Mack.
Other then that...Mystery train to me.
Oh well, we'll work something out.
Cheers,

I'm sure when Frank gets on line, we'll hear all the details.

Any guesses on the valve lineup?
Front is a noval, possibly double triode or EF86
Mid, looks like there's the bottom of an octal valve left there.
Or maybe it's a different socket.
Possibly a double triode phase splitter?
Or, perhaps the noval is the phase splitter, and the octal is 2 cathode followers DC coupled to the grids of the output valves?
Rear. Interesting. Are they Jumbo sockets with the skirt of a big output triode left behind? Or is that wishfull thinking. They are definately bayonet fittings.
Of course, it might not be Push-Pull at all. Even better!
I fear I'm losing sight of the facts..

Hi,
1/Noval socket 12xx7.(linelineler preamp.)
2/Ocktal socket.(phase + driver.)
3+4/UX 4 socket for a pair of 300B PP or PSE.
Just a guess:
CMPDH300.
Custom Made Project Direct Heated 300B?
Cheers,

the kailin line is chinese. Really high quality parts and derivative
circuits, but dirt cheap. Your particular model I don't recognize, but they
are pretty open about providing their schematics for their models. I can't
seem to put hands on the link right this second, but if you'd like, I can
track it down.
I've not bought any of them, but I've been impressed with the build quality
considering the price of many of the chinese offerings. High quality PS and
signal components and some of the chinese tubes used are more than adequate.
In all, great value.

They're not known as Kailin in China, I guess, but I'm sure this is the
manufacturing company, as their amps look exactly like the kailin amps I
saw, particularily the 2 chassis 6BQ5 amp and the one chassis 6BQ5 amp. I
in fact tried to contact the company to see if I could get some amps cheaply
here for funsies........but there was no coherent reply to my email. If you
do currency math for their products, their wholesale prices are dirt, dirt,
DIRT cheap. Prolly could cannabalize the innerds (if you hated the amps) and
come out ahead.

Ah....
Hi,
Well,well....I did check that too.
Couldn't find any reference to this particular model though.
Still,I feel the iron can be usefull...
Let's just wait till it arrives "in situ" I'd say.
Cheers,

Oh no
I have not been too impressed with some of the products coming out of China.
No offence intended.
It's just that it would not be the first time I got stuck with ...lousy products.
I checked out the Cayan website but I did not really see any resemblance.
http://www.mei-xing.com/doce/companye.htm
However this link seems to be a lot more like it.
MC88-C was close .
Originaly I'm from Cranbrook but now reside on the Sunshine Coast PRiver
I'm here to stay.

You mentioned Ebay . What is the going rate/average ?
Actually I feel a little better after I visited the website.
From the specs on the MC88-C .This amp may have a little too much power for my old speakers. They are rated at 30 watts.
I think I'll install a governor while I have it apart (Ha ha)
So far it's all good
Cheers

It's here
It made it. WooooooooHooooooooooooo
Heavy holy cow. A couple of trouble spots(pic).
The numbers on the (what is it a ceramic capacitor ?)white thing are 5W100UJ(inverted U) .The tube sockets have no #'s at all.
The four large sockets measure 1.375 inside diameter with a 4 pin configuration. The next size down 1" ID with .6875 "(11/16") center to center on opposing pins. Definitely worth fixing.
Heavy construction ,brass in pic are plated steele . I was expecting plastic. Found a couple of stripped wires. Looks like someone started to try and fix it then gave up. I will need to find the schematics to know what tubes to use.
The model is CMPDH300
