> Question, is this buffer compatible and useful for the JP/Subbu ES9023+WM8804 DAC

Jean Paul was the third on top of the subscribers list ??
You should ask him.

Patrick

Eh, I can not give info on what I haven't tried (yet) but I do not see a technical reason why it would not be compatible. I am happy with the DAC without any extra buffer/filter stage but my curiosity won this time again.

GB now closed.

WK will post payment instructions, etc later today.
We have already ordered OCBs and shall order and match JFETs.
Matching 1000 SMD JFETs will take quite a while, so please be patient.

A couple of remarks for those who are also GB'ing other components :

The Bill of Materials follows the original circuit of Joachim Gerhard.
And we have tested it ourselves and satisfied that it offers an improvement to the 9022 using clock frequency >=45MHz.
But as always the choice of filter is a thing of personal taste. So don't be afraid to experiment.

Basically the PCB offers you place for two 1st-order Low Pass Filters.
The first is a L-R filter, and IMHO you can go lowest to 2k with the R.
That will reduce the corner frequency by a factor of 5, so I think enough to cover anyone's taste.
Test it with a small 10k trimmer soldered with flying leads and trim to taste before replacing with SMDs later.

Similarly the second LP filter is a standard R-C filter.
I would keep the R the same and change the C by the same ratio as you change the R for the first filter.

Happy experimenting, :)
Patrick
