If that winding (the one connected to the diode) was directly connected to the center leg of D801, it should have 110+v on it. Is there any evidence of damage or tampering in that area?

Looks like someone messed with it. The diode circled in the pic i pulled from the board its marked SR106 Y418. THe diode reads 0.156 is diode check.

This appears to me that its shorted. Wondering if this indeed is shorted and if so Can i cross it so i can do more trouble shooting

Does it read 0.15 in both directions?

Was that with one terminal out of the circuit?

black probe on stipped side 0.156

red probe on stripped side just stays at OL dont get a reading

It's likely OK. It's a schottky diode so it has lower forward voltage than most diodes.

Does it appear that the terminals on the low voltage transformer have been resoldered?

Ok Perry now we are getting somewhere!!!

I replaced the diode that connects to the winding's The one you had me test the resistance from 1 end to the middle leg of 801.

Now the amp's orange light lights up and stays lit

wondering whats the next step

Are you now getting ~110v on one side of the diode and ~140v on the other side of the diode?

Stripped side reads 29.32 non stripped side reads -0.68

voltage on middle leg of d108= 0.67

How long has the voltage been down from 110+ to near 0v?

We'll have to deal with it tomorrow. Check the outputs. You may want to pull them and check them for leakage if they seem to be OK in the board.

Ok i was checking this amp out somemore. The 3 resistors between the caps

The 1 marked 2r2 is measuring 24.02 ohms is that the correct value?

2R2 is 2.2 ohms.

Ok 2.2 ohm resistor is it a 1206 package? also further looking into this amp 1 of the caps is ready to vent

The resistor is probably a 2010.

Sometimes the plastic cover bows up from the shrink wrap. Have you tried pushing down on it to see if it will go down and then pop back up?

It's always better to post actual photos.

i took the plastic cap off and u can see it ready to vent. I will get a pic up As soon as i can find my camera since my 4 year old took off with it

If you're sure it's swollen, there's no need for a photo.

Did you have a resistor to replace the open 2.2 ohm resistor? It doesn't need to be exactly the same. Anything close will be good enough to allow further troubleshooting.
