I have thought about this too many times before embarking on a project. I have found that there is only one way of assessing how it really sounds: look at the rest of the equipment those who have praised it are using. That and wait for a consensus from a wide range of builders.
An unfortunate thing here is that many build something but never post anything afterwards - like how it sounds compared to XXX product.
