Audiophile's have these short of mid life crisis ocasssionally.

Mert has appeared in 12 threads over the past 4 months and to be searching for something. But his system has changed. Particularly the loudspeaker which were previousy Focal when he acquired the X250.5.

"4) despite quite low volume levels that I apply, your amp sounds more powerfull than Musical Fidelity kw 500 integrated which is almost 500 watt in 8 ohms? interesting, isn' t it? maybe your amp works pure class a for first 35 watts or more?
5) Do you like music as well designing amplifiers?"

Too many positive inputs. Thanks folks. I have clarify a few points:
Before having bought Boulder 810, I had also Pass X2.5 on hand and had chance to compare all Boulder and Pass Labs.(1010,2010,810, 2.5,x1,x0.1, x1) I loved 810 most and bought it. I could have bought 1010 but it has been long in market and most likely to be dropped soon from production. 2010 is a very good indeed but has to be paired with top of the top power amplifiers. Pass preamps have a interesting synergy together with pass power amps but I prefer Boulder and this is subjective.

If I had enough space I would go to XA100.5 or 600.5. I like Pass Sound and prefer over Boulder Power amps(1060,850) and Gryphon Range.

IMO, Currently Nelson Pass number 1 amp maker/designer in USA and makes best power amps in the States.

If I have to get another brand it will not be from States it will be from Japan.(Accuphase A-60 or P-7100)

I am satisfied with X250.5 and don't want to change to something which will not yield very very marginal benefit(sonic)
Thats why I would like to make something very very good ''perfect''.

I just wanted to learn either there is a possibility of mod. or Not.

Hey guys!
those are some schweet pics!
Steenoe,
those are my kind of heatsinks AND caps! I briefly looked for Rifa in the US a few years back, here they go by Aerovox and it's not the same stuff. Anyways I could never find the supplier. Where do you get yours?
I mostly find the PEH169's from guys with an A40 or A75 project that never realised, so mostly "never used old stock". Since I have what I can absorbe myself, I will get back to you next time I stumble over some. I realise that you had more than a finger in the A-X board design;) I (we!) owe you one, and this could be it. The PEH200 series is readily available here in Scandinavia. The prices are pretty heavy though.... A 100.000uF/ 63 V is about 150$ give or take... You would need 8 pieces for monoblocks with a CLC supply like I favour (as in the pic's). The 40V's are a "lot" cheaper Approx 80$.
I realise that this is totally OT, but what....:devilr:
:)
