Update:

I've ordered the boards. At the moment it looks like about a 3 week wait to receive them. Shortly I will invoice the members on the list.

It will look something like this:

:)

Nah not exactly but you'd get change from 100 delivered.

try and bunch up with others who might be interested?..

As I understand he has a bit of a waiting list.. so.. maybe add it as option to your pcb list..

m2c

just have to add, coz I listen now like 8hrs a day… its really good.

ha!

It aint all that easy beer and skittles thing they talk about, can be .. though but never lasts and the contrast kills the overall.

I've been running it in with E180F ($5) tubes for like 500hrs now. d3A is the ducks guts, night and day. Thorsten was right..

oh but OPA861 is still good… just not the same deal. And you can double/triple/quad them up.. but you know?..

At the moment ill stick with the CEN with the mosfet 2mA current injection, im keen to up the current to lower the impedance because at the moment im sitting right on the +-25mV compliance. Wouldn't mind trying it as low as 6 ohms or so (~12 ohms at the moment)

Im open to trying different output stages.

andrea_mori might be on to something with a circuit hes working on, cant remember the details but it simulates with very low input impedance (around 1 ohm) and low distortion (less than 0.01%). It uses valves... wouldn't mind a bit more valve flavor.

You keen on staying with your current output stage?

Yeah mate, I ran with OPA861 for over two years… nulled for 0V at 1541A output, then tried nulling for 0V at the OPA output to DC couple to TVC.

Tried next (with same current 2mADC offset injection) with WE396A parafeed into S&B TX102mk3 , OPA was better. This was all with about what you'd expect as good A and B supplies.

Tried Thorstens method zero bias - near enough, concept. Removed the 2mA CCS on the AYA PCB. Cut the ****** in half actually (PCB). T was right. His 6922 stage, really - is very very good. His 6072A was good but 3mA doesn't drive the IP trannies on my amps so well. His suggestion of a 10mA, 2kRp tube with super low noise (~70ohm resistor - don't ask, I dunno) with old school jap tant I/V and its unreal. I've worked live sound for years, studio for some.

Anyway, OPA861 aint bad and probably better than most. Esp. coz you can null offset to 0V which can help - but IMO not with inductive loads.

love me back yet?

I think (know) that OPA runs like 7ohm Zin.. or maybe its 7mA current, Either way, its been published widely that the the 25mV compliance is a bit of a misnomer. Eg ask AMR what the load presented to their 1541A is in their 10k DAC. The dude (?) has measured and shared openly, as have others (oshifi? - sorry I don't check), but the threshold seems to be about 47R.

OPA <10r Zin
