"Hi Dug
what parts are presoldered ??
thanks

kp93300 "

So glad you checked.

Did you want 1 pair (2 boards common ground plane) or 2 separate boards?[/QUOT
Dug,
I want to build a stereo amp for use with a fullranger markaudio 12p.
I want to build a monoblock, one for each speaker. This means 2 separate boards . Is this correct?

regards kp93300

Yes

birca1987, got it.

The tpa3116D2DAD is a stereo IC (two channels) that each channel is a BTL.

There is an option of combining the channels in such a way as to double to output current capability. This configuration is called PBTL. (Parallel Bridge Tied Load)

The board I have made is a PBTL board.

Yes, you would need two for stereo.

Hi Dug,
many thanks for your work,
and sorry for my stupid question:
I am trying to clearly understand differences between BTL and PBTL.
What double output current capability mean with a fixed gain amplifier? Does it mean the output is 'louder' or does it mean something else ?

Have a read of the data sheet. Your answers are within.

Hi Blossom,
Many thanks for your interesting answer.
Of course,I carefully red the pdf file: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa3116d2.pdf

There are 2 occurences for word BTL.
I only found this words:
The TPA31xxD2 family can be connected in MONO mode enabling up to 100W output power.

As I am not an ingeneer, this is why I kindly ask for a feed back:
as the gain is fixed, let say to 36, what bring more output power?
Maybe a short answer in this way can help me a lot to understand.

Regards,

Christian.

I asked the question re power from PBTL mode on the main 3116 thread. The answer I got was:
"PBTL power is 1 to 1.5 watts above BTL, you could say they are equal."
PBTL gives you the ability to drive a 2ohm load to 100 watts but no great gain in watts for 4 or 8 ohm.

Well, they are here.

I found that I made a little error on some of them.

The exposed ground plane did not get copied on some of them.

The area along the edge at the input side, the area under the IC (only required for TPA3118), the area at the outputs for larger bootstrap capacitors and the area under the output filtering is not exposed.

I have offered some people a slight price reduction and am waiting for three more replies to see if I need to order an additional batch to cover all orders.

The KIT price has been placed in the first post.

My apologies for the error.

Doug
