Could you point me to the F5 article?
Thank you very much.
Note that there are still two pairs of Conrad heat sinks left on ebay.
You can find it on www.firstwatt.com

can you be a little more specific?

Thanks Jim. Even though I've been navigating the www since Al Gore was poopin' yellow, I couldn't find that article. Why it isn't in DIY is beyond me.

Now it makes a lot more sense! Sorry for being cranky, I thought you were just lazy.
You should also read my guide ( you can find it on the F5 PCB WIKI )

It's in the article somewhere (http://www.firstwatt.com/downloads/F5-om_sm-080527.pdf) - I think it is should be rated for 30A or 25A and 250V. You can get them anywhere and they are called a diode bridge. Do a search on "diode bridge" on mouser and click rectifier something a couple of times and you'll end up with a couple of thousands to select from.
I can't really recommend any, just make sure you get one with the correct or above rating.

I have used these,
Mouser
844-GBPC3506A
844-GBPC3512A
Mainly because they don't cost too much
Dont forget BER142 Heatpads for these things.

You use a heatpad on a bridge? Is there an advantage over
just using silicone paste? I'm not arguing I don't know just curious

I thought they needed to be isolated from chassis. Maybe not.

I't probably doesn't matter much. They don't put out as much heat as output transistors.

They are isolated internally from the package

Usually not. Single or dual diodes in to-220 or to-247 packages do however need isolation.
