First DIY Woden Valiants

i finally decided to build a set of speakers. I used a pair of Dave's FE126en's in some Woden Valiants. Some help from a new friends access to a CNC machine helped by cutting me a flat pack from a couple sheets of 18mm BB. How nice the pieces went together... I added some color to the narrow sides including the baffles. A clear finish is still needed to finish them off. Couldn't wait tho... Had to give them a listen. I was amazed.... Really great imaging... And the bass is way way fuller than I expected... 4" what?? Just need some time alone with them, to really try them thru multiple genres of music. My 15 watt tubes are fed FLAC files with Foobar. 20 X 22 room will allow the horns to work I'm sure. More pics to come... If I can figure the image part out?

Hello Chris...the assembly was so tight and imple a 4 year old could've done it.... almost *wink. A couple learnings on the first one led to a quick simple job on the second one. Glue and brads... a few clamps and that was it. They do sound sa-weet as well. Amazing how the horns work. I've always had reflex speakers so it is really an eye opener as to what the horns can do... errr I mean ear opener. Still have to completely do the final finish this weekend, but its hard to now take them apart. haha thank you again for the awesome support and mentoring.... Now for some PC speakers.. What size would the smallest forward mouth horns be? Dave said a while back he was working on a smallish version. Do you know anything about that project? I may even consider dismantling my present 2.1 system take the electronics, amp, volume etc and just making new speakers? Some FE85's or something like that?

Some FE85's or something like that?

FF85wk (or better yet FF85wKeN) is one of our favorites.

We are working on a small horn. Small & horn don't usually go together, so this is a harder task than doing a big one. Usually anything that is small& called a horn is closer to a TL.

Even if we succeed it looks like it will be a bit big for a desktop.

We have a number of boxes suitable for that job. You should probably borrow some and see what you like.

I think Chris has a pair of the 85's to loan me..

I think both of Chris' sets are in use, i have a set if uFonkenSET not in use. I also have Woden Desktop Labyrinth for A6p & for FF105wk once i do up another set of drivers. mMar-Ken6p.

Any luck or comment on possibilities to re-purpose those Mission speakers i left with Chris?

I've had the single you gave Chris since shortly after you gave it to him,but i haven't done any measures since them. I have a pile growing to test (including FF105 mentioned above), hopefully before mid next week i'll have measured the lot.

Hey Dave.....
although you are thinking the "not so small" horn may not fit my application, what is the timeline of that project looking like? do you know when a beta might be ready? Just how big are we talking? I have room for stuff..... my man cave is about 22 X 22 (converted dbl garage) so my playground has some room left to fill. I am sooo impressed with the horn functionality that I am willing to persue that avenue where possible. Plus I just like the concept of the internals and the fun of building them. I also have nothing but time as I am in no hurry.... Afterall, it is fishing season now :)

TABAQ with W5-1611

This is my first full range project..I am really happy with.. I can't really believe, that stuffing can do really big job.. :) It´s without final finish. I am not decided which color I will finally use...
