I thought it might be good to dig up and share all those great bands and artists that deserved better and never got the recognition they deserved.
By definition, they are hidden under stones that most people haven't turned over, so lets turn them over.
My first suggestion is "The Rainmakers" a hard charging rock n roll whirlwind from Kansas. Quality and drive that should have pushed them a lot further than they got. Their first eponymous album is a diamond.

So we are seeking artists like these, for example:

Balls
Fully agree with this choice. Their album Balls is great and they were known as "Steve, Bob and Rich" at that time. My spousal unit used to catch them in KC often and got me hooked. My first suggestion is "The Rainmakers" ...

I'll put in my 2 cents for Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band. Great music, great social and political satire and near Total Obscurity outside of a rabid cult following.

Gentle Giant
Although they are not forgotten, but have not received the recognition they deserve, I think.
The power and the glory was their best, and I think least known.

Yes, I had forgotten that gem, but you sparked a memory from the past, It sounded familaiar, so I went to the vinyl vault and sure enough I have two Shooting Star records. The neighbors loved them I'm sure, best played at say 8.9 on the Richter scale.
Right next to the Shooting Star records were four Triumph records. I had forgotten those too. Allied Forces, crank that one to 10. Still evaluating Never Surrender. Two more records to go. Good LOUD sounds from that other Canadian power trio. Both of these bands were from when the M in MTV meant music, not mindless.
Several now well known musicians got their start on MTV. Does anyone remember the music video where 4 musicians were playing while rotating on the turntable inside a microwave oven?

After rocking the neighbors with some 1980 vintage music, I wondered "where are they now"? I found this new rendition of an old Triumph song. Hook your computer up to the TV and good sound system and play.

Woo! Two electric violin players in the same thread (see UK)! Tubelab is right loud is what you need for Shooting Star.
Early Gentle Giant went to prog places that other bands feared to tread, not even Jethro Tull, I still have a soft spot for them.
Root must have been a hoot live. Thanks Jacques
Keep 'em coming, this is fun!
