Foam Core Board Speaker Enclosures?

Another Karlson spec please

X,

Amost finished with my first pair from long ago,
and itching to getting these drivers to work.

Here are the specs for the drivers:

'RE 3.911 OHMS
FS. 61.24HZ
QTS .381
QES .396
QMS 9.99
LE .787 MH
MMS 46 GRAMS
VAS .5916 CU FT
SPL 92 DB

These are a 10 inch drivers, 650 Watts.Heavy. Thnking I"ll do foam first, then
go do some find ones in wood. What do you think. What do the numbers tell you,
when you do your Magic X. As always I appreciate and my little girl is going like
a weed.

As I understand it, it's the internal volume/spacing that is importnat.

Cheers,

Sync.

PS I for got where the model is that we take our measurements from....

Cheers,

Freddi,

Not being a speaker guy can you tell me a bit about
what makes those numbers and resulting stuff wild?

'RE 3.911 OHMS - 4 Ohm Driver
FS. 61.24HZ - Not bad, free air resonance, is this high low or medium?
QTS .381 -
QES .396 -
QMS 9.99 -
LE .787 MH -
MMS 46 GRAMS - Moving mass of cone? Light or heavy?
VAS .5916 CU FT - I think a relatively small encloseure
SPL 92 DB - fairly efficient I think. Not in the 100s though.

I don't have a feel for it and I don't know what resulting
cabinet might look like.

Thanks,

Sync

besides low inductance, its got a lot of looks physically from big motor, nice frame and kevlar cone - do you have the linear excursion figure ?

lets see if X has an XKi alignment

I need Sd of this driver in order to model it. Do you have a link to the driver TS params?

I am going to assume nominal 9in dia piston for now given it is a 10in bezel.

The sims look pretty good, scale by 0.83x all around and make K-aperture go up to a sharp cusp and not a slot.

Good for 93dB sensitivity and 41Hz (-3dB).

X, Nope, but will have to search for it Sd and full TS params.
So what would the cusp look like? Like sharp angle?
and how to make that from the base level drawing?

I'll let you know when I get the info,
Thank you.

It looks like a sharp tall pick. Just make the two sides come together a little faster so it doesn't leave a parallel slot.

Hi Cal,
I am quite busy with work and other things. I don't sleep much. :)

Close, speaker #427

I like how dynamic the FF105WK is - good bass extension and very snappy. The peak at 7.5k still needs to be dealt with. There is also a dip near 2.1k but that is less bothersome. It's a good start and I am glad I made a tapered TL kind of like the kind PMC uses for their monitors.

I think tomorrow I'm going to build some mock up boxes for my infinity 120.3 dvc 12 inch subs with 13mm of xmax so I'm interested to see how the foam core would handle the excursion. I'm planning on making a 1.5 cu ft box sealed with some internal foam bracing. I'll definitely post some pics as I build them tomorrow. No matter what ends up happening it'll be better than having them just playing just sitting on the ground with no baffle haha. Even still I get decent bass down to 40hz with no box or baffle lol.
