I think this may surprise a lot of folks who thought that they had Vanessa Paradis pigeonholed.
I loved the original for it's naivete but this is just manna from heaven.
It was one of the better discoveries I have made recently.
Along with that, Il Y A just knocks my socks off.
Incredible simplicity combined with exceptional sophistication, both the music and Vanessa. She seems so unspoiled but has to be tremendously experienced.
She's a brilliant actress too.
I have included her here as although she is principally a singer, she does play guitar so scrapes in by the skin of her teeth.
Which I also admire her for. Despite a lot of pressure from the usual idiots she has not gone down the pathway of physical perfection/enhancements.
She looks just fine to me and I'm sure Johnny Depp agrees. He didn't even want to change her name, it was so much better than his, until their daughter got sick.
For those of you who haven't heard her debut song, made when she was 14, here is Joe Le Taxi in it's original arrangement.
Love those saxes!

Speaking of the Velvets...You can't deny Nico was a prototype of the Femme Fatale. Only, she couldn't sing.
I was lucky to see her perform with John Cale a few months before she died.
And then there is Patricia Barber...and Patti Smith.

11AM this Sunday? OK, I'll try to tune in. Thanks.
Yupp.
In terms of music, this parish is about as close to High Episcopal as you can get -- populated by a bunch of refugees from the Cathedral Choir.
