One day I'll go for DHT like that, until then cash only permits the best DH power tubes which in my view are the GU50How obtainable are those VT4C tubes BTW?
The VT4C is a milspec 211 and a transitting tube too. You may find 2 worlds collecting the VT4C: the militairy surplus collectors and the DHT audio fans.
Radio amateurs (HAM's) paid less for a VT4C than the audio freaks (today they are familiar with the high prices too).
In the early 90s I paid 25 bucks for a pair of RCA VT4C's (from a collection of a retired HAM).
That is exactly why the 300B was promoted so heavily by the French and the Japanese in the 1970's and 80s. Enough power for most living room systems with the linearity of a DHT SE.
Still, those 45s do sound good! I've yet to hear a PX4.
